With a loud pop! we Apparated back to my living room. Galileo let out a startled bark from somewhere in the house and came running, nearly knocking Draco over in an attempt to say hello. Draco bent down slightly to pat his head.

He looked up at me. "Now what?"

"There's a science supply store not too far from here. You'll need a proper retort for the distillation process, a sand bath, and then I'll pick you out some basic glassware and equipment—you should really learn how to use the metric system, by the way."

I grabbed get my car keys and driver's license from the table next to the front door and glanced around to see Draco standing still with a sheepish look on his face.

"I don't have any Muggle money on me," he said.

"You can pay me back later," I said and gestured for him to follow me. We walked through the kitchen and I opened the door to the garage for him, doing my best to keep Galileo from pushing his way out with us. I managed to shut the door and turned around to look at where my mum's white Land Rover Defender was parked next to my dad's car. Only, Mum had essentially let me have the Defender now that I could drive.

I pressed the button to open the garage door and Draco jumped at the noise. He watched perplexed as the door opened while I got into the driver's seat.

"Come on," I said to him. He looked away from the garage door but stayed still, eyeing the car warily.

He sighed. "Is it safe?"

"Is what safe? The car?"

"No. You driving it." He gave me a look that was so earnestly nervous it annoyed me.

"I did perfectly on both my theory and my driving test. Also, the store is only a few minutes away. I'm not driving on the motorway or anything."

"What about with your...issue? What if you...fall asleep?"

I glared at him. "People who have what I have sometimes need to take a special medical assessment. I did and I passed, hence having a license."

He didn't move and just blinked at me a few times.

"Just get in the damn car, Draco!"

Finally, he walked over to the passenger side and got in. He made a show of clipping in his seatbelt and reached up to clutch the panic bar tightly. I rolled my eyes.

Through the whole drive, Draco never let go of the handle and stared out of the windshield with his jaw clenched. Each time another car passed us going the other way, he would flinch with his entire body. It made me want to drive recklessly just to spite him.
