The following morning, Sonic and Shadow awaken to find themselves in separate rooms. As Sonic looks around, wondering what happened, he is relieved to see a curtained window that shows him a familiar place as he energetically separates the cover to see sunshine come in: South Island. Shadow looks around the room he is in and notices he is in a laboratory of sorts. While peeking out of a tube, Shadow notices Tails grabbing a dusty book and patting off the dust with a cloth. Tails reads it, explaining to Amy that the stones are just as powerful as they believed they were. In fact, they are hazardous; they both contain radioactive properties. He continues, explaining that anyone who finds both stones cannot come close to each other without an explosion occurring, if they come in contact with each other within the same week of finding them. Amy gasps, agreeing, "We need to keep them away from each other!". As Sonic lifts himself out of bed, he walks out of the bedroom he was in, to enter a hallway connecting his part of the house to Tails' laboratory. Sonic, wanting to see what his buddy Tails was up to, places his hands on the door handle. As the door peers open, knowing the person entering was likely Sonic, Amy comically slams the door shut, shouting, "Oh no!". "Sheesh! What was that for?", Sonic chides, in shock, as the door bumps him on the nose, as he is not yet aware of the situation. "Sorry!", Amy quickly apologizes. "Why am I here?", Shadow adds. Amy answers. "I'll explain later."
