"Get up, kids! We are here."
Coach Ukai's voice woke me up. I must have fallen asleep after thinking about Yamaguchi's crush. I should ask him about it later.
I looked out the window and saw Kuroo and Daichi, who were already greeting each other. Yamamoto-san was staring at the bus, and it didn't take long for me to realize he was looking at Kiyoko. Poor boy, he had no girl as a manager.
"C'mon Kao! I want out of here." I shook her shoulder.
"Okay, okay." She mumbled as she stood up.
"Kenma-san!" I jumped, scared of the sudden scream that came out of Hinata's mouth.
"For fuck sake, Hinata!"
"Language." Suga scolded me at the same time as Hinata said 'Sorry'.
"Someone woke up with their's ass up, I see." Kuroo ruffled my hair.
"Mm" was all I said before sneaking out of his hands just to get in someone else's.
"Ai-chan!" Yamamoto squeezed me so hard, I couldn't breathe.
"Yama-moto...sen-pai-" I tried to tell him to put me down.
"Yamamoto, you are killing her!" I heard Kenma's voice.
"Oops." And Yamamoto let go of me.
"Thank you, Kozume senpai." I said after I was breathing normally again.
"Ugh. Just Kenma. And no problem." He smiled softly.
"Okay, Kenma." I smiled back.
Turning around I saw that Asahi was trying to make Yamamoto let go of, this time, Kao.
"Boys, let's go and prepare. We have a match against Shinzen high in an hour."
"Okay, captain."
"Keo-chan" I turned to face Kuroo once again "You, Kao, and Shimizu can go and rest for a while then join the other girls in the dining room."
I nodded and once I got to Kao and Kiyoko, the three of us found our way to the girl's room.
...
"Thank you for the food!" The boys said and started eating their dinner.
After we arrived, we rested for about an hour and then joined the other managers to help prepare the dinner for the teams. Out of four matches, we won one against Ubugawa High and lost against all the other teams. I didn't get to know anyone today except for Shirofuku, who was the third-year manager of the Fukuroudani team. We were in charge of the salad together and talked about the boys in each of our schools. She wanted to know more about Asahi, specifically if the rumors about him were true. I told her that they were far from the truth as he was one of the kindest men to ever walk on Earth.
"That makes two in the camp." She was referring to Bokuto Koutaro, the captain of their team. "He is stupidly kind. Well, unless he is bragging about being one of the top five aces in the country...or when he is in his 'emo' mode."
"Emo mode?" I raised my eyebrows, hardly holding in my laugh.
"Believe me, you don't need to know. If it happens during the week, you'll know. Everyone will know."
When everyone was ready with their dinner, it was time for us to go take a shower and go to bed.
...
"Nice block, Tsukishima!" the boys said as Kei blocked Bokuto for the fourth time this set.
We were currently playing our third match today, which was against Fukuroudani. We lost the first set with 18-25 and it looked like we were going to win the second one. But only for a moment until Fukuroudani's number 3, Sarukui Yamato, scored the last two points needed for them to win.
"One lap diving drills around the court!" Daichi said and the boys started their penalty lap.
"At least we will improve our receives." Kao sighted and I agreed.
"Hey, hey, hey! We won again guys! Good job Saru! Akaashi! Did you see how well we played with your nice tosses?" Bokuto's loud voice filled the gym.
"Yes, Bokuto-san. You did great. You all did." Akaashi said in return.
"That Tsukishima guy. I don't like him." Their number 12 stated "He thinks he is more than us. Little jerk."
Before I had the chance to react, Kao was already walking to him.
"You should stop insulting people, just because they did a better job as a middle blocker, during the game, compared to you."
If it's not for the looks, you can't tell that Kei and Kao are siblings. Kao's personality is the opposite of Kei's, as she is a lot kinder and carrying that him. But there are these little moments, like now, that bring out the 'Kei' in her.
"What?"
"Onaga-kun, it wasn't necessary." Bokuto scolded him and looked at Kao "I am sorry..."
"Tsukishima Kao."
"I am sorry Tsukishima-chan. Please excuse Onaga-kun."
"Just keep him in line." She spat out, frowning in Onaga's direction.
"And I am sorry for her." I grabbed Kao's arm "She gets very defensive when it comes to her brother" I bowed apologetically in her place.
"It's okay...um sorry, I don't know your name." Bokuto smiled softly.
"I'm Keomi Ai, first year manager in Karasuno."
"Nice to meet you, Keomi-chan. I'm Bo-"
"Bokuto Koutaro. Shiro-chan told me about you." I smiled.
"She did?!" He got all excited "What did she say? Did she tell you I am in the top five aces in the country? Actually, almost in third place." He said proudly and I chuckled at his childish happiness.
"Bokuto-san, our match against Nekoma is in 15 minutes. Let's go." Akaashi put an end to his bragging. "Sorry for this Keomi-chan, Tsukishima-chan." He bowed and turned around, followed by the team.
I watched them as they left. I have to admit that Bokuto was a good-looking guy and if their pretty setter wasn't there, he would probably make an even bigger impression.
