Guilty choice

Here I was, making the most important decision that could impact the life of all Originals forever. " Elena?" Elijah asked, his eyebrows raised expectantly. Here we were, at the Mikealson's " Home welcoming" party, which turns out is just a distraction to link all the Original vampires together so the can all be killed easily.

I want Klaus dead just as much as any person, but Elijah and... Rebekuh don't deserve it. Perhaps neither does Kol.

I promised Elijah before I went in the room to tell him exactly what his Mother had said, but now reluctant was preventing me from exposing her plot. My mind battled, but logic won.

" She just wanted to tell me how sorry she was for almost killing me." I added a surprised, dazed tone to help me case. " Is that all?" He asked, suspicion transforming his features. I nod. He shakes his head.

" Well then, I guess that settles things." He walked away, still confused.

I feel proud of myself for remaining loyal to Esther for a total of two seconds. Then, the paining guilt overcomes my being.

Elijah had saved my life more than once, and here I was betraying him at first thought. My emotions overwhelm me until I hear Esther begin to make a toast.

Cups of wine are passed around, and everyone takes one, unsuspecting that my blood is laced in the drink. Elijah joins me and hands me a glass, and I take one with an anxious smile.

Esther is just finishing the toast when I make the choice to do something treasonous to both my friends and to humanity.

"Don't drink the cup." I whispered urgently. " Tell your siblings, except Finn.Meet me outside after. " He frowned and walked off.

My eyes watched him mumble words to, first Kol, Then Rebekuh, and then- Klaus. I realize I had forgotten to tell Elijah to exclude him from the group.

I notice all the MIkealsons stare at me after receiving the warning. I know that I will have to explain, and it won't be pretty.

I was right, because as soon as the toast finished Elijah barely was barely able to make a move to stop Klaus before he zoomed towards me and choked me against the tree trunk.

" Wha- W" I try to make a sentence, but Klaus's iron grip around my throat tightens. " Niklaus! Let her speak!" Elijah commands. Klaus gives Elijah a deadly look as the choke hold loosens.

I drop to the ground, and Elijah runs toward me, his hand on my back. " What was going to happen if we drank the cup?" Rebukah asks, her eyes cold. I tremble slightly as I say, " You are going to hurt someone when I tell you."

" Well if you don't tell us, someone's going to get hurt anyway, except that person will be you." Kol smirks. My eyes narrow as I say, " Well, your mother took my blood and put it in the drinks to link all of you together."

Everyone looks puzzled, and only Klaus gives a reaction. " So when one of us died, all of us did." He finished. Everyone looked at him, alarmed. " No."Rebekah whispered.

I felt sympathy regarding her. She had just gotten her beloved mother back after one thousand years, only to have to learn that she was planning on killing her.

" I'm sorry." I said, tears spilling from my eyes. Elijah looked at me sadly and warmly. " We have to kill her." Klaus said, his voice hoarse.

Elijah and Kol nodded. Rebukah still looked dead, which was ironic since she was actually, technically already dead.

Klaus marched toward the room, and I moved to follow him along with his siblings. " No." Elijah said. " You stay put." I opened my mouth to argue, but he was already gone.

I grunted in frustration. I looked around, making sure everyone was distracted, including Stefan and Damon, who I prayed still weren't following me.

I ran up the stairs, attempting to find the room that I knew Esther was in. I followed my instinct, and it did not fail. My hand reached the door knob while I was still running. I threw open the door, and horror overtook as I took the scene in.

Another witch, one I had not noticed was at the party, was doing a spell I was all too familiar with. It was the vampire torturing spell, one that Bonnie had well mastered. Klaus, Elijah, Kol, and Rebukah were all bent on the floor grunting in agony.

I did the most stupid, unplanned thing that came to my mind and I jumped on top of the witch. The small second of distraction was enough for Klaus, who I was sure had a lot of ordils in experiencing that spell.

He ran and snapped the witch's neck with a swift twist. His limp body dropped to the floor, and Esther screamed. " No! No, No, NO!"

The reaction was more crazed than I would have thought. I didn't understand how close a connection Esther might have had with this witch until I blacked out.

....

I groaned. I felt awful. My whole body was stiff, and I felt delicate. " She's waking up!" I heard Kol shout.

Even with my horrible condition, I felt the presence of something gathering around my bed. At least, I think it was a bed. My eyes fluttered open.

The shapes over my head became clearer, and I noticed that it was none other than the Mikealsons who were watching over me. " Personal space?" I moaned. Elijah laughed anxiously.

" See you're finally becoming yourself again." I tried to laugh, but a pain in my body hit me before I could even make a sound. " Ow!" I yelled. Rebukah placed her hand on my face. " You're just imagining the pain, as soon as you get up and get your brain stronger, you can fight against it. "

" What?" I mumbled. " Get up!" She commanded. And I did. Pain I had never felt before attacked my body, but I didn't care. " My screams pierced the air, and I noticed everyone flinched. " I'm sorry!" Rebukah apologized. Your caring tone distracted me for a second.

" You aren't mad anymore?" I asked wonderingly. She laughed. " No." My mind began to clear, and so did the pain. " What happened?" I asked. Elijah and Rebekuh looked at each other. Kol rolled his eyes at their worried expressions.

" Later." he said. Despite many kicks and flailing, they managed to get me out of bed, by dragging me. I took a wincing seat at a fancy table. Everyone took their seats, and seconds later, Klaus joined us.

I was a little surprised at his company, but the shock didn't come until Esther and Finn walked into the room. After everything, they were still eating together like nothing happened. " Now, Mother, tell us." Klaus ordered harshly.

Nope, not okay.

" Elena's here, so I suppose to stay alive I have to keep my side of the deal." Esther sighed. " Okay, Elena, you must promise not to run away after you hear."

" Wow, is it that bad?" Kol joked, attempting to bring humor into the conversation. It didn't work. Esther gave him a hush-up look.

" Very well." Esther began to tell us her information. " A long time ago, I gave birth to who are now five powerful originals, who all stand before you. I am aware that Rebukah already told you our tale, before they became vampires."

I nodded, and she continued. " Well, besides Henrik, I had one more child that never became a vampire. A girl. Because of her refusal and the way she fueled and justified my sons' and daughter's hunger, I had to do something.

Killing her was not an option, not when I had risked so much to save my children. So instead I did a spell. A spell that would rebirth her 900 years later. When she would die, everyone's memories of her would be gone.

She died in my arms, and she did in fact come back. Elena is proof." " How?" Kol asked. " Because Elena is my daughter, who died nine hundred and seventeen years ago." Esther admitted.
