Charlie packed a small bag for LA. He just needed some jeans, clean shirts, and toiletries. He was mostly worried about remembering to bring his equipment and extra supplies, just in case. He planned to bring his entire collection of colors. There were specific pigments he knew he was going to use, but he wanted to have all of the options available to him. He made a list on his phone of everything he needed to get from Tucker's before leaving.
Sara was supposed to pick him up at 6 am the next day. He was last on the pickup list, so by the time he got in the truck, they'd be ready to hit the road. He'd already raided Tucker's for snacks — chips, jerky, and some energy drinks. He borrowed a cooler from his neighbor.
He felt ready. The trip there was only half the battle. He needed to be focused and confident for the competition.

All he could do now was wait until it was time to hit the road.
