It was evening. The table was set for dinner for Christopher, Jake and Eddie. It was going to be a fun night. They hoped. Jake was looking forward to leaving, and walking a few steps to his camper van. They were excited of course. Three guys meeting up with each other. Jake was actually good friends with each of them. In their college days Jake would always trying to sort them both out. You know get the prince home safely, before his mum comes out yelling at you. Then secretly hand him over to Marcus down by a tunnel.
"Ah, there you are" Jake whilst searching for Christopher. Who was sitting in a chair reading in one of the many rooms.
"Hi" he replied, looking up to see Jake hovering over him. "Is Eddie here yet?" he asked waiting.
"Not yet" Jake chuckled. "I hope you don't mind but James want to come" cautiously. He thought about it for a moment. James was the recently appointed chancellor. He was small but he did like talking all about different engines with him.
"Yeah ok. His also the reason the meeting ran half an hour later. We got talking about boats" Christopher briefly looking up at him.
It was then settled that James was coming. And was told he was allowed to come, much to his excitement. It was still classed as a small party to Christopher he didn't want it too big in the evening, it would wear him out. As the guests started to arrive. Or just waiting for Eddie. The dinning room was going to have some life in it.
As Eddie came up the road. A figure stood there watching him. Right on the corner of downing street. He turned to see the still standing there. Eddie bit down on his hoodie. Playing with th collar side. He turned around. As they went through the gates. Christopher noticed the car pull up. Eddie was not looking at the house.
"Why is he looking down the road?" Jake asked, watching Eddie out the the window.
Christopher shrugged, " don't know".
James went to the door to greet the prince. "Hi Eddie" he smiled.
"There was a man at the end of the road," he said. The other two came down, hearing the last bit.
"Who?" James asked, wondering about security in general.
"A man was out there. He didn't move" Eddie explained. "He had case and watched me. Might of had a radio too."
Christopher went in and hugged him. And told him he was fine, and enjoy himself. Eddie nodded and was guided to the room. They all sat down around the table, as the cooks were making dinner. Eddie picked up a bit after a conversation was going. James was happy to be there. He wasn't proper friends with Eddie and Christopher. But did go to the same college as them. Well nearly all the cabinet and people in the diversity party went to that college.
A man was walking under the tunnels of around Downing street. Trying to work out where the entrance was to get in. He had seen Eddie go to the Prime Minsters house. It was widely known Eddie and Christopher were friends. It was known for years, being in Buckingham place gardens together as preteens at events. So it wasn't unusual. But tonight was going to be a very different night. It was not going to be the same again.
As the dinner arrived Rita was delivering the food. Of course serving the boss and and a Prince. She was on cloud nine. By this point she was trying to keep calm, until she left the room. She entered the room with some drinks. Eddie was on juice and Christopher was on a milkshake, because why not?. After all one was Prime Minster and the others were on the the booze. Well they were on the same street so it was fine.
The man had heard dinner was being served so he waited. He knew his timing, it was when they were finishing. He knew the codes to do what he was told, to listen in. He was aware that there was a chance of talk about trains and comic books.
"You are annoying" Eddie yelled at Christopher. He just giggled at him, as he ate one of the chips on Eddie's plate. Of course Jake laughed along with James.
"Stop teasing him. His mum has guards you know" Jake looking at Christopher with a smile. Which was received with a tongue stuck out to him. He shook his head at him. Christopher was in one of his playful moods.
Eddie reached out and slapped Christopher. "Are they always like this?" James asked Jake. Jake nodded with a smile. Rita who was still in the room shook her head.
The man who had been down there for ages started to move. He moved by missing Rita by seconds as he entered. Eddie jumped up. It's the man again, he thought. Not realising he was pointed his face was flushed. The whole group looked at each other back to forth. The stranger just stood there.
The stranger just watched the group.
Rita re-entered the room.
