"Well...I think that went okay." Misa said nervously in the back of the limo. Ms Duster had asked them to wait until the end of the auditions for her so she could talk to them on the way back, so it was long past the end of the school day.
"Are you kidding me Mis?! It went great! Could you not see the examiners or something?! They were clearly impressed."
"Well, I'm not allowed to say anything about the auditions or results, but I will say this. You were both outstanding!"
"Thank you Ms Duster!" Misa said happily. "That was a dream come true! And thank you so much for letting us keep the costumes! It means so much to us! Chicken Girls is our favourite show and these outfits are really similar to the ones they wear in CG!"
"You're welcome, I can see you really love them."
"We do!" They both yelled, causing Ms Duster to smile again.
They pulled up outside of Sheryl's house and Sheryl leapt out excitedly, Ms Duster getting out after her. Misa looked at the driver, who nodded.
"Go on Miss, I'm not going anywhere, go and celebrate with your friend while she tells her parents, and I'll be waiting right here to drive you home so you can tell your parents too"
"Thank you, see you in a bit."
She stopped and turned around, my annoying long, dark hair flying in my face. "and by the way, call me Misa...actually no, hopefully things will work out. Call me Mia. What's your name, and do you work at the school?"
"My name's Michael, and I do work at the school. I'm the caretaker, but I also drive students to performances or even personal errands."
"Cool, so if I get in then I guess I'll see you around a lot, Mick."
The two of them grinned at each other.
"Wow, no student has ever actually been nice to me, or given me a nickname before. The London school of dramatic arts needs more students like you and Ryl."
"Thank you, you have no idea how much that means to me Mick." She grinned and leapt out of the car, pirouetting up the driveway to where Sheryl's parents were staring at Ms Duster in shock.
"Wh-what the-Sher-how-Huh-" her mother, Sasha, was stuttering. Sheryl's father Joshua's face was red and her little sister Sabrina and older brother Mitch were standing there confused.
"Mum, who's this lady?" 7-year-old Sabrina asked. I threw her arms out and grinned as Sheryl's sister ran into my arms. Sabrina had always been like a little sister to Misa, their whole family was basically her second family, well more her first if she was being honest.
Joshua's face was getting redder by the second, and he took everyone by surprise as he slammed his fist on the wall.
"SHERYL ANN CARPENTER! WHAT ON EARTH DID YOU DO!"
Sheryl gasped and her and Sabrina quickly hid behind Misa. Mitch (he's 17) quickly grabbed his Dads wrist and lead him inside while Sheryl apologised to Ms Duster. Sabrina was shaking so Misa quickly lifted her up and carried her, Ms Duster smiled at her and she grinned back.
"So I see you're good with kids then Misa,"
She nodded. "Yeah, I do some babysitting every weekend and I always help take care of Sher's sis, she's basically my own sis,"
Sabrina grinned and threw her arms around her neck, Misa hugged her back and sighed happily.
Once they were all sat down with drinks, Ms Duster took a small sip from her coffee and began.
"Hello, I am sorry to appear out of the blue here. My name is Annette Duster, I am the headmistress of the London Dance Academy an hour away from here. I saw your daughter and her friend dancing this morning in a traffic jam, and they performed wonderfully. They created a professional and extremely complex routine on the spot, with only music from one of their phones to rely on. They managed to perform for the whole 3 minute song, with no practise in advance. There are students at my school in their fourth year who still can't do that. I believe that Misa and Sheryl have what it takes to be great dancers, they have the talent and the right looks, not that looks matter much with dancing. I borrowed them from school today during their fifth period to take them to the school for Auditions. They both performed wonderfully, and, again, they had no time to rehearse. They picked out costumes, a song, makeup, hair and a perfectly choreographed duet dance with no rehearsing. I really cannot explain just how impossible that is for most people! So, we will let you know in the next few weeks whether the girls have made it in or not."
Joshua and Sasha were silent for a few minutes. Sheryl sighed and leaned towards Misa.
"I'm so not going to be allowed,"
However, suddenly both her parents squealed and jumped up, they threw their arms around Sheryl and said how proud they were of her. Mitch patted her on the back and started crying and Sabrina was jumping up and down on the sofa excitedly. They all had a group hug and Misa smiled sadly to see it, she and her family never have group hugs. But then Sasha smiled and grabbed Miss's arm, pulling her into the hug. Sheryl grabbed her hand and they grinned at each other in the middle of the hug.

A few minutes later, Misa, Ms Duster, Sheryl, Sabrina, Joshua, Sasha, Mitch and Mick were on our way to Misa's house. Misa was sat in the front with Mick and Sabrina was sat on her lap. She knew that she was nervous, but she didn't realise she was shaking until Sheryl reached over and placed her hand on hers.
"It's gonna be okay, Mia." She whispered, squeezing my hand. Misa squeezed it back and sighed.
"Maybe...I wish I was part of your family, Ryl."
Sheryl smiled sadly.
"I know, Mia, and you're always welcome at my house, you know that. Oh, that reminds me, I've got a surprise for you on your birthday! It's as well as a present though."
"Really, thanks Ryl!"
Misa hugged her, which resulted in her falling into the back of the limo. She apologised to Mick and Sabrina, then sat in the corner with Sheryl. When they got to her house, Misa squeezed Sheryl's hand and chuckled sadly. As the car stopped, everyone else got out, and Misa hesitated. Mick asked her if she was okay and she smiled sadly.
"Yeah Mick, sorry. Me and my family don't really get on like Sher's does, they don't approve of me dancing and they're very strict, plus my Dad's never around."
"Oh, we'll I'm very sorry to hear that Mia. But, how are you in a dance squad if they don't like you dancing?"
"Sheryl's parents pay for my dance fees," Misa muttered sadly. Mick nodded and opened his mouth to say something, however was interrupted by Sheryl jumping back into the limo.
"Come on Mi, let's go and celebrate with Milo, Sophie and Matteo."
"Ok," Misa whispered shyly. She reached over and grabbed Mick's hand.
"Mick?"
"Yeah,"
I sighed. "This is gonna sound stupid...but can you come in? I'd much rather have everyone there, and you're a really nice person, I think we'll probably be good friends. Please?"
Mick nodded silently as they stepped out of the car and walked up Misa's driveway, Sheryl on her left side and Mick on her right. Misa sighed again and took a deep breath.
Tears began slipping down her face and she looked back at everyone behind her. Sheryl was still beside her, gripping her hand reassuringly. When they saw she was crying, Sabrina immediately threw her arms around Misa's waist and Mitch put his arm over her shoulders. Sasha and Joshua joined in and both patted Misa on the shoulders while Mick came and stood on her other side and patted her arm. Misa took another deep breath and smiled at them all.
"Lets get this over with,"
