"YOU DON'T HAVE any special exams this month."
When Chabashira-sensei said that, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. This month we don't have to worry about special exams. Normally, we should have one during this time. Was it the same across all three grades?
"Why, sensei?"
"I don't know that, Ike. The first years and the second years will be undergoing their first special exam in their year this month. But the special exam for the third year has been delayed for the next month."
So the first years and the second years would have their exam. It was just the third year whose exam had been postponed.
"You all have already received your points, right?"
We did receive it this morning.
The current class standings were as follows:
Class A – 975 points
Class B – 750 points
Class C – 680 points
Class D – 540 points
The current difference between our class and Class A was 435 points. It wasn't that big of a gap but it wouldn't be so easy to close in as well.
There was still some time left before the homeroom ended.
"Everyone," Horikita stood from her seat, "Today there will be a gathering ceremony after school. The aim is to help the students familiarize themselves with each other. Especially, for the first-year students. They don't get many opportunities to interact with the higher grade students. This will be beneficial for them."
They were still relatively new in this school and didn't know much about the inner workings. With this gathering, they can interact with the upper-grade students and create a bond that may prove useful down the line. It carried equal merit for us upper graders as well.
"This will be helpful for us as well. There will be times when we would need to work across the grade in the special exams. If we were to take this chance to get to know them better then it would help ease the burden when the time comes."
We have undergone many exams where participation and co-operation between the students of different grade levels were necessary. This gathering would provide us the platform to get to know each other which would make co-operations and talks smoother during future exams.
This definitely was a good idea. But I think the one to put forward this was definitely Ichinose. She had also held a similar sort of meeting during the partnership exam in our second year. Although Ichinose had put forward that idea, I am amazed Horikita went along with that.
"I think it's a good opportunity. We should definitely participate." Yousuke prompted the other students with his words.
"No one is forcing you to come. But if you want, please come to gymnasium number 1 after school."
"I think we should go. It may also help us if something like the partnership exam were to happen again." Inogashira said. I don't hear her talk much so the voice kind of sounded refreshing.
"It was really difficult searching for partners last year." Ike sighed, remembering the previous exam. It definitely proved to be difficult when we were suddenly told to participate in that exam. The stakes were higher for us and we had to make compromises. Housen tried to cash out millions of points. And I had to cook food for Ichika. Not to mention the cost of all those new and expensive utensils that I didn't need.
