It was now half term, a week at home for Louis to spend with Harry.Jay let them sleep in later than usual. She had got up late herself, noticing the dip in temperature.
She opened her bedroom curtains and saw it had snowed again. The second lot of snow this winter, so far.
The last time it snowed, Harry had been left out in it, cold and alone. She wondered how he would feel when he sees the snow again.
She couldn't exactly keep him from seeing it.
Louis woke up needing a wee. He met his Mum coming out of her room.
"Morning love. Sleep well? You ok?"
"Yeah. I'm bursting for a wee." He replied, doing a little dance and squeezing his legs together.
"You better go then. I'll go check on Harry."
Louis ran into the bathroom, just making it in time. Sighing in relief.
Jay sat on Harry's bed. He was awake. Louis woke him when he scrambled out of the bed, leaving the covers off of him.
"Hello little one. Are you hungry?" She stroked through his curly locks.
Harry nodded and yawned as he sat up. He lifted his arms and Jay picked him up. He'd wet through his pull up, meaning a change of sheets. "Oh dear, let's get you cleaned up first, then we'll get you some lovely ready brek."
She changed him and took both boys down to the kitchen.
"Mummy! Mummy! It's snowing!" Louis shouted, running to the back door and opening it. A big waft of cold air blew in, making Louis shiver.
"Close the door love. You can go in the garden later."
He closed the door and sat down next to Harry, who was already in his booster seat at the table.
Harry sucked his thumb and clung to his Teddy and blanket, obviously nervous or scared at seeing the snow falling. A tear fell from his eye and he rubbed it with his blanket, sniffing.
Louis looked at him. "Harry, why you crying?"
Jay turned around and knelt beside him. "Harry. Is it because of the snow? You don't have to go out in it."
Harry's tears got stronger. Jay picked him up and cuddled him as his tiny body shook.
"M-Mummy." He whimpered.
Jay's heart broke yet again.
Louis was sad. Sad because he wanted to go in the snow with Harry. Sad because Harry was upset.
"Does he not like snow?" He asked, sadly.
"No love. Give him time." She walked back and forth trying to calm Harry down, as Louis watched with Sad eyes.
Eventually, Harry stopped crying and was sat back in his seat, eating his breakfast.

"Do you want to go out now Lou?" Jay asked.
The boys were sat on the sofa, Louis reading Harry a story.
Louis looked up at his Mum. "Um. No thank you." He replied before going back to telling Harry the story of the Princess and the pea.
Jay was shocked that he said that. He loves snow. Always wanting to go out building snowmen, or having snowball fights with his Dad.
"Oh ok love." Jay said and left the boys to their book.
