Chapter 7
Althea's POV
"I want 20 shifts tonight." Arlo spoke up as I almost made it out the door way without homework.
"20!" I asked, not bothering to hide the shock in my voice. He nodded and avoided eye contact with me while he packed up his bag.
"Arlo my body can't handle 20 shifts. That's too much." I tried bargaining with him. Shifting like that back to back takes it out of you. Not to mention the amount of time and control it takes me to get my wolf back inside once she's out. I won't have time for actual homework.
"Shifting needs to be as easy as running. I want 20." He deadpanned. I scuffed and went to leave. He was really taking this 'not friends' thing very seriously. He avoided touching me, even avoided making comments about my outfits, though I could see the strain in his face.
"Bring Kaston on Friday. You two are going to spar." He hollered. I turned one last time to meet his blue gaze. He smiled softly when I nodded. At most that is what he gave me, his intoxicating blue eyes matched with his small smile. The pair of them were enough to get me through the week. Though it didn't stop the dreams and the hot nights that tempted me into touching myself.

Tilly and I walked through the halls for lunch. She decided to sit outside with us seeing as it was one of those days that the blaring sun seemed to keep the frost away. We sat down next to Kas who was already half done with his food.
"Did you hear about Nathan's party?" Tilly interjected. Kas nodded.
"No, when? Are we invited?" I asked quickly. Tilly chuckled.
"Funny you ask, because the boy himself asked me if we wanted to come. He specifically asked for a certain brown haired beauty to be there." She smirked.
"Bad idea." Kas spoke up. We both ignored him.
"Nathan asked about me?" I about choked on my sandwich. Nathan wasn't someone I ever longed for, but lots of others did. And for some stupid girly reason it made me feel a little more worthy. Like I had accomplished something at this idiotic high school.
"He said you've been looking pretty cute in gym." Tilly had a blush on her cheeks.
"So he notices she's getting more fit and all of a sudden wants to get to know her? No he's a douche." Kas interrupted. I nodded and laughed.
"It's pretty douchey, but I still wanna go." I told Tilly. She evil laughed and tapped her fingers together.
"What to wear! What to wear!" She cackled. I felt a pulling at my link. Kas had something to say.
"Bad idea T. Arlo is your mate, you can't mess around with other guys." He spoke nervously. I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not messing with other guys, I'm going to a party like a normal teen and getting a little attention. I'm not gonna do anything with anyone." I defended. Kas shook his head. Why did the idea of a little male attention make him nervous?
"I just think maybe we should stay home, I'll buy snacks for a movie?" He offered. I was seconds from exploding on him. He knew something I didn't. Tilly was busy on her phone eating her potato chips to notice mine and Kas' internal argument.
"What are you not telling me?" I hounded him. His eyes widened briefly. Kaston was terrible at keeping secrets. He always confessed my birthday present the day before my birthday. He couldn't keep a thing from me.
"Nothing I just think it won't end well." He severed the mind link before I could prod him further.
"I was thinking more edgy, I'm gonna pick you up Saturday after your training to come with me for my septum piercing!" Tilly spoke up, oblivious to the tension between Kas and I. I gave her a tight smile.
