Your mother rang the doorbell of the neighbors house about five hours later. You had managed to scrounge up nicer clothes and even some makeup which you hoped would make a better impression then this morning.

You'd probably also have to explain this morning and you were already dreading it. Hopefully the boy didn't hate you - or think you were a creep. What if he thought you were a creep? That would be so incredibly awkward.

You shook your head to try and banish the stressful thoughts and smiled at the lady who answered the door.

"Oh welcome! Come in come in we're about to set up the grill," the woman greeted, ushering your family inside. She seemed very friendly, which put you a bit at ease.

The calm feeling was immediately dampened when they made their way to the backyard (why couldn't they have gone through the gate, man?) and the boy himself was watching his father tend the fire.

"This is my husband, and my son Tom, though you've already met him haven't you?" She asked you. You nod bashfully.

"He made a good impression of your family, I was excited for the barbecue," you tell her politely. She smiles at her son proudly and you hope this eases some of the tension.

The boy, Tom, stood up and made his way to your family, shaking his hands with your parents before ending with you.

His hands were warm, you noticed as he shook it.

"So I never caught your name, you left so quickly," he started. You breathe out a laugh.

"Sorry again, I made a really bad introduction huh?"

"No, no, it's fine! Just curious to know about the p- the nicest girl on the block," he stuttered.

"Well, I'm (y/n), it's nice to meet you," you greet.

"I'm Tom, though lots of people call me Tommy," he rubs the back of his neck again and you can't help but look up at him. He's taller than you, with fluffy hair that frames his face and bright blue eyes. When you thought he was cute before seeing him up close was breathtaking.

His dad coughs from the fire and you look away sharply with a blush. The two of you make your way to the campfire and sit in the two remaining folding chairs next to each other.

Fantastic.

Sneaking a look back at him you realise he's red too, and you decide to take a chance.

"I am sorry about earlier. I was embarrassed," you laugh, "I heard screaming and wanted to make sure no one was getting murdered," you explain.

He snorts, "unless you count my friends in a video game. No worries dude," he reassures.

As the fire starts blazing and the night gets cooler the two of you fall into easy conversation, letting the adults talk about their own stuff. The conversation bleeds from comparing music tastes and favorite things, to childhood stories and aspirations. It feels like three seconds have gone by by the time dinner was ready the two of you had clicked so well.

"Wanna go to my room?" Tommy invites when he notices you shivering, not used to the England temperature. You nod after a moments deliberation and he stands up and tells your guys' parents where your going.

He leads you through his house to his room and invites you to sit on his bed. He rummages through his closet for a moment before throwing a hoodie at you.

"I could just run over to my place-" you protest but he interrupts.

"No it's fine, saves the journey,"

You observe the room as he sits next to you. It's a teenage boys room, that's for sure. Some dirty laundry on the floor and unorganized shelves and cabinets. You pay special attention to his elaborate pc setup.

There's multiple monitors, as well as a microphone and stage light.

"I do YouTube," Tommy explains when he notices your staring. You nod in realisation.

"Oh cool! What do you do?" You ask.

"Well, I stream on Twitch as well, but it's pretty much just Minecraft stuff."

"Oh sick, I love Minecraft! Haven't watched much of it, though," you hold out a hand for a high-five and he returns it.

"I guessed," he laughs. You pull out your phone and pull up YouTube.

"What's your channel, I can subscribe."

He laughs nervously, "uh- I dunno-"

Your eyes widen "If you don't want to it's fine, sorry," you apologize, starting to put away your phone. He puts a hand on yours to stop you.

"My channel's Tommyinnit," he says. You nod, noting the familiarity. Maybe you'd watched his video of his before?

You search it up and his face immediately pops up.

"Holy SHIT?" You exclaim at the subscriber count. Tommy laughs at your astonished look.

"Like what you see?" He jokes. You laugh and press the subscribe button, setting the phone down.

"Dude that's awesome! How the fuck did you do it?"

"I sold my soul," he deadpanned. You both laugh. Yeah, you and Tommy were going to be great friends.

"Wait do you know Dream?!"
