It was the summer of Freshman year. Lily was the cool older sister, the one who taught us everything we knew about boys, being a girl, having code names for the guys we liked, for example, "maybe a little bit" and "smiley eyes." Although we always thought she would be the one to go to beauty school and gossip while doing people's hair, but for some reason none of us knew, she decided to go into the force. Three months later they showed up at her door. We were all there, Jazz knew before they told her. Holding the flag in one hand and her head in the other she fell into our arms. We cried together for hours. I spent more time at Jazz's house than mine, I think we all did. I knew Lilly like she was my own sister. I loved her like one too.

"I know you guys want to watch out for me and stuff but, you really don't. So can we just drop it?"
"Of course," I hadn't seen Scar walk in. "Hey, look at us" I peered at them from under my bangs. 'Why don't I feel as safe as I used to with them.' I don't think I'll ever know.
