It was a rainy day. The water droplets were devising a symphony outside, a symphony where dread and harmony were interweaving into the utter waltz of the world.

In fact, the storm which was unleashing outside was jarring so hard into the windows of the library situated in Kinoko Kingdom, that it was making George shiver and flinch, being all aghast in his seclusion.

Decidedly, George was scared of storms.

For him, storms were always coming to disrupt his life. For him, storms had always brought war, fights, disdain and death.

Rain was always bringing tears with itself. And along with the tears, there were memories. Memories of good old times, when storms were able to come and clear paths. Sweet, stale times when there was always a rainbow after the tempest.

While his head was resting against a wooden pillar and his hands were twisting against the soft fringes of the blanket, George could sense his eyelids becoming heavier and heavier, ready to drift again into the softening land of sleeping.

A frolicsome shriek pealed through the squall.

The brunet was up on his feet in a matter of seconds. Inquisitiveness altered the course of blood in his veins. Once he reached the stained glass, which was diving the room into shades, he dragged feebly at the black curtains, peeking at the view outside.

His heart melted instantly at the sight: Tommy, Tubbo_ and Ranboo were running in the rain, with no care in the world. Laughing. Smiling. The allium hidden behind Tubbo's ear was lodging behind a trail of petals of a color that George could not define exactly. Tommy was mocking Ranboo for the tremendous steps the latter was taking. The half enderman, covered in his full netherite armour, was trying to catch the blonde boy, while tugging Tubbo's sleeves in order to make the boy run faster. For them, rain was just an extra element, something forfeit in the background. Rain was there just to sweeten their smiles.

A happy trio.

George felt the sudden urge to snooze. He needed to sleep. Right then. He needed to disconnect from the awful reality. He couldn't stand to remain and watch and he blamed himself for ever trying to touch the curtains. It was a bad idea from the very beginning, as he was doomed to cloak into complete murk.

Because he was fully aware that only in his dreams he could reunite with his own happy trio.

Because reality was cruel.

Because each of them gave in to their own vices.

Because they hadn't chosen the right ways.

Because they couldn't teach each other what an adequate morality was.

Because his friends weren't there for him anymore.

His legs were weak again and a rumble was heard when his knees met the spruce wood planks. Palms on his face and memories tormenting his mind, it was probably the thousandth time that day when he remembered everything he once had had and everything he had lost.

Images from the much-craved past were defiling through his soul, the remembrance of them was beating in tandem with his heart.

Sapnap was the only one with whom he could unleash his feral side. Sapnap was the only one that would tell him everything with no remorse. And George had always trusted the way the other boy was telling the truth. Even more, they had been together from the very beginning, side by side, fighting and having each other's backs. When George was secluded from his kingship, Sapnap was there. Beckerson had to be retrieved, Sapnap was there. Sapnap was part of El Rapids, like him. After all the challanges, they were still bounded by an unseen string. And even though George was still aware by the fact that Sapnap was still his best friend and he lived only a few houses away, in Kinoko as well, a piece of the puzzle was still missing.
