Merlin Episode Ideas

We open onto a hunting trip with all of the knights – Arthur, Leon, Gwaine, Elian, Percival, Kate and Merlin. They are creeping up on an animal, it seems to be quite large. Merlin does his usual fumbling about and a few of the knights laugh at him. It is obvious that Merlin can sense that something bad is going to happen. Arthur smacks him round the back of the head and they all carry on towards the creature. Leon and Percival move the bushes around, to reveal a group of 3 young people who look very worn and tired, as if they have been abandoned. The group look concerned and all look at each other. Leon falls to his knees, crying. He hugs the children, desperately.

INTRO PLAYS

Cut to everyone riding back into Camalot. The 3 children are on separate horses with some of the knights. They all dismount off their horses in the citadel and Leon makes sure the children are ok, he immediately takes them to Gaius. Kate, Gwaine, Merlin, Percival and Elian come together and watch him walk away with the children – they all look both intrigued and concerned.

Cut to Gaius checking the children for any wounds or injuries. He begins to ask Leon why he is so attached to them. It is revealed that Leon is their brother, his father had an affair on his mother and these three children were the outcome of the affair. However, Leon's father left them penniless which meant that Leon had to secretly care for them when their mother died. He tells Gaius to do whatever is needed to ensure their health – Gaius ensures him that they are fine.

Leon goes to see Arthur and asks for him to be relived from his duties for a while to care for his siblings. Arthur agrees, and makes sure to tell Leon that if he needs anything all he has to do is ask. Leon is very grateful.

Cut to Merlin sorting out weapons whilst everyone is training. Kate runs over to make sure he is ok, she offers him some help but he insists that he is fine. She has a quick drink of water and returns to the archery section. Everyone is working nice and hard. Merlin stands and watches his sister for a second and then carries on with his job.

Cut to Morgana incanting by a fire. Images are revealed of the children sleeping, they soon wake and become magic consumed zombies and begin to release prisoners in the cells at Camalot – they are reeking havoc throughout the city and they are not found. Then Morgana makes them return to their beds as if nothing has happened. She is pleased with their work and does her smirk thing.

Cut to the next morning, Arthur is furious. He and Merlin are trying to figure out what happened. Some of the townspeople state that they saw 3 children creeping round during the night – Merlin immediately accuses Leon's siblings of causing the problems, but everyone dismisses him. He is very sceptical and wary of them. Everyone returns to cleaning the mess.

The next night, the same thing happens again. However, this time there is a trail of foot prints leading back to where the children are staying. Merlin tries to convince Arthur again, but he dismisses it once more saying that the evidence must have been planted there to frame them. Merlin is frustrated by this and suggest that maybe there should be guards everywhere the next night so that they can catch the person/people in the act. Arthur agrees and instructs all of the main knights to be at particular posts.

They all make preparations throughout the day, the knights taking shifts of rest to prepare for the long night ahead. Kate seems to be quite distracted and distant towards everyone, it is obvious that she is worried about spending the night guarding Camalot – Gwaine tries to make sure she is ok, because he knows about her nightmares, but she is claims that she is fine. Gwaine goes to Arthur to ask if they can be stationed together, but Arthur tells him that he had already sorted that as they worked better together. Gwaine is grateful.

The night arrives. We see Morgana using her magic on the children again and they leave their beds to make another mess throughout Camalot. Whilst they are sneaking away, Gwaine and Kate are stood in complete silence. "I'm sorry I have been distant today, I just wanted to make sure that everyone would be prepared". Gwaine is understanding and hugs her – but it is cut short as they both notice the shadows of 3 people in the citadel. They signal the guards by the gate and run to catch them. There is a cartoon-like chase. Eventually, the children are cornered. Suddenly there is a puff of smoke and they have disappeared. Leon pushes through the group having also just witnessed what happened. He freaks out so much that he is placed in the cells.

Merlin decides to go into the forest to use magic to see where they went. Kate goes with him as his 'muscle'. He finds them and sees that Morgana has control of them. Kate watches guard. He tries to use a spell to release them, but it doesn't work. He tries a few times but get frustrated that his magic isn't strong enough. He decides to leave a trail that would appear to have been left by Morgana. When he returns to Camalot, he tells Arthur that he was picking herbs for Gaius and he spotted a new trail. They leave immediately. Merlin and Gaius talk, and Merlin realises what he must do.

All of the knights leave, except for Leon, riding as fast as they can out of Camalot. Montage of them travelling – they don't stop for rest this time. Once they find where Morgana is keeping the children, they split up. Merlin, Arthur and Elian go one way, Gwaine, Percival and Kate go the other. They plan to circle their camp and ambush them. They do so, and the fight starts well. However, they cannot keep up with Morgana's magic and get distracted by the many things going on around them. Morgana notices how hard Kate is working to protect them all (again, for Kate – she can't let go). Morgana decides to target her. She also notices that Merlin is quite protective of her and realises that they are siblings. Eventually she has her by the throat, Kate drops her weapon and struggles. Everyone sees this and stop what they're doing. Gwaine goes in to help her but Morgana uses her magic to throw him across the camp and knocks him out. Kate manages to push Morgana away so far that she drops her. Kate picks her weapon up and stabs her. Arthur orders them all to leave, but Merlin refuses. When it is just the three of them, Morgana starts to taunt them with her tricks. Arthur gets angry and tries to charge at her, but she knocks him out. Merlin and Morgana have one of their usual 'chats' and Merlin uses his magic to make a tree collapse on her, but she moves so it only knocks her out. He then wakes Arthur and they grab the children and leave.

When they all return to Camalot, Gaius becomes very busy trying to cure the children and heal the wounds of the Knights. When the knights and Arthur have left, Merlin tries a new spell on the children. It works and they are returned back to normal. Leon is released and he is reunited with his siblings. For a moment, everything is happy and calm – Leon is relieved and makes sure they are ok.

Cut to Morgana waking up in the forest and noticing the children have been freed. She knows that Emrys had a hand in helping Arthur and swears that she will get her revenge.
