Sorry for the slow update!
Kazutora looked down at Chifuyu's notepad, it was just laying there after he went to pick up ramen from the Kawata twins. Without thinking twice, a smile played on his lips as he picked it up and flipped the top layer. Little notes and things to remember were written in his notepad, along with schedules and appointments if he had any. Kazutora blinked. His coworker liked everything in order, he was the complete opposite of him.
He turned the page to see some more notes and times written down. Yet he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. When he put all of his attention on it, he noticed there were small drawings of animals in some of the corners. More specifically, the animals they cared for. It took Kazutora by surprise. He didn't expect Chifuyu to be into drawing chibi art. This was just..
"Cute notebook you got here." Kazutora said as soon as Chifuyu walked in the door. Chifuyu's eyes went wide at the mention of the small book. And he scoffed once he saw it in Kazutora's hand.
"What the hell are you reading my notebook for you damn creep?" He said, shaking his head. He snatched the notebook from his coworker and went to put it away in his work drawer. He pointed a finger at Kazutora, it was shaky.
"Don't go through my things." He huffed.
"Well it was just sitting there." Kazutora began "I also really like your chibi art, I never knew you could draw like that, fuyu." The genuinely sweet smile on Kazutora's face could make a whole iceberg melt.
Chifuyu suddenly felt blood rush from his heart to his cheeks. His face was warm. He was embarrassed. He had never gotten a compliment about something so small before. Little doodles were just a small insignificant hobby. So he never brought it up to anyone, and no one ever seemed interested enough to ask.
"Hey, when did you start this?" Kazutora lifted an eyebrow.
Oh. Someone asked.
"Well if you really want to know, I do it for fun." He rolled his eyes. He continued, "And I don't know when I started it."
Kazuotra looked straight into his eyes, and Chifuyu began to internally panic. Then, Kazutora put two fingers under his chin and gave his coworker a bright smile. Chifuyu was confused, but he was ready to laugh at how stupid Kazutora looked in that moment. "What is it?" Chifuyu asked, and he breathed out a small laugh.
"I just had a perfect idea, that's all. You still need to get those kittens into homes right?" Kazutora asked, a smug look written all over him. Chifuyu still didn't know what he was getting at.
"Well yeah, obviously-" He began.
"Then let's promote the shop a little." Kazutora said. He went over to his coworkers desk and pulled out the notebook, he opened the page with the doodles on it and pointed it out to Chifuyu. Once Chifuyu understood, he nodded. Even though he was a bit shy about putting his little chibi drawings out there, it was for the best.

A few weeks later, they had only one kitten left. The signs had worked, and they got customers to buy most of the litter. Chifuyu was glad, he just needed one more customer. He jumped a little when the doorbell rang, meaning someone had come in.A couple walked in holding hands, but not just any couple.
"Takemichi! Hinata!" Chifuyu smiled at his friends, surprised to see them at the his shop. They never stopped by before.
"Hey Chifuyu!" Takemichi smiled. He still had that same childish look to him. Hina on the other hand, had grown into a well mannered young woman.
"I know you don't see us much, but we stopped here because we saw your advertisement around the neighborhood. I've been asking this one if we could get a kitten for a while now." Hina said, motioning over to her husband who laughed nervously.
Takemichi seemed to remember something, then turned to Chifuyu and narrowed his eyes teasingly.
"Nice drawings." Takemichi smirked.
Chifuyu wanted to slap Kazutora. There could have been any other way to advertise their shop. But, he had to admit, it worked. Kazutora helped him with something when he was stuck, even though it was quite obvious what he should have done, he was clueless to it at the time.
"Yeah, thanks." Chifuyu laughed.
That evening, Kazutora was sweeping the floor when he noticed the last kitten was gone. He looked over at Chifuyu who was stocking new products on the shelves, placing each of them each in order.
Kazutora smiled softly to himself, and was about to go back to work when Chifuyu spoke up.
"Thank you, Kazutora."
He froze for a second, then when he looked back at Chifuyu he could see a small smile on the man's face.
"For what?" He asked.
"I'm grateful for your help. You are a good guy Kazutora." Chifuyu said almost above a whisper. He let out a small laugh and went back to work.
Kazutora stood there for a moment, he couldn't remember the last time someone said something like that to him. In his mind he was always the bad guy, the antagonist in everyone's story. He thought no matter how much change he brought to himself, people would always see him the same.
Kazutora started at Chifuyu for a moment. And he could have sworn his heart rate paced for just a minute, for some unknown reason.
He smiled again, something he had been doing a lot lately. Then he went back to work.
