Adrien/ Chat Noir's P.O.VThe wind was messing up my hair as I practically flew through the air. I had to get out of that house. My father had decided to be more strict with my diet. In other words, give me less food because apparently I am gaining too much weight.
I grit my teeth at the thought. The second they had let me back into my room, I transformed and started off with no specific destination in mind.
I was running down a street when I recognized a familiar place. It was the bakery where my good friend Marinette lived. I could see a pinkish glow coming from the upstairs balcony.
No harm in looking.. I thought as I extended my pole to rise upwards.
She was sitting with her back to me, her hair in messy pigtails. Marinette was focused on her sketchbook, her pencil a blur on the page. She bit her lip when she was focused, it was kinda cute. Wait, bad Chat Noir! You love Ladybug, not Marinette.
That was when his head decided he should leave before she noticed him. His body apparently had other ideas as he saw his hand reach up and paw lightly at her window.
Marinette's head shot up like a deer caught in headlights. I waved shyly and flashed a smile. She raised an eyebrow and walked over to the window.
"Chat Noir? What are you doing out this late?" She opened the window to talk to me.
"I just paw-sitively needed a stroll and thought I would stop by and check on you." He scratched the back of his neck as he looked down at the bluenette.
"Oh great, the cat has puns. Come in, you must be freezing out there." Worry tainted her face as she ushered him in.
He leaned against her desk as she plopped clumsily into her desk chair.
"Whatcha working on?" I lean over farther to peek at the sketchbook.
"Nothing! Well, it's not finished yet at least..." She trailed off, hugging the sketchbook to her chest. I put my hands up in mock surrender.
"Sorry, Chat Noir. Maybe some other time--" That's when I stopped listening. She said "some other time" that means she would let me come back! I have never really gotten to go to a friend's house before. Well, except for Chloe, but she doesn't count.
My heart was soaring and I felt giddy. So, without thinking, I hug her. She tensed under my touch, mouth still open from being interrupted mid-sentence. She suddenly pushed me away, causing us both to fall to the floor.
"Get off me!" Marinette was like a scared animal trapped in a cage. Her bluebell eyes shone with fear. I wonder why?
She pushes against my chest as I scramble to get up. She stands up so fast I thought she might fall again and almost runs to the corner of her room. I notice that she's trembling.
I step over there to put my hand on her shoulder and comfort her but she stops me.
"Don't touch me." She almost growled. Marinette can be scary when she wants to.
"I'm sorry. I didn't realize-- I'm so so sorry. I'm just gonna leave now. You won't see me here again, I promise. I'm sorry." I stumble over my words, wishing for the right ones.
I take one last glance behind me. She was staring at the floor and her eyes looked dull. This was not the Marinette I see at school.
That Marinette was bright and happy. She stands up for herself and her friends. She's our everyday Ladybug. Not this sad and shaky girl he saw in front of him. He wanted to help her, but it was clear that she wanted him to stay away. Or at least the Chat Noir part of him.
