Everyone was busy chatting, dancing and cheering wines while enjoying the classical jazz music played by the orchestra. The hall was filled with thrilled students dressed in tux and lovely gowns.
The exquisite details of expensive cloth table linings, flags dangling from the ceiling showing each Kin's pride (a flag embedded with a logo representing each Kin) were thought of well. Blue and white roses were neatly placed in the entrance and each center table along with candles and silverware. The entire decoration gave the ball a palace like ambiance. But unknown to many, something is about to happen that very evening.
Axiara and the girls made a grand entrance as they confidently glide down looking sophisticated and gorgeous in their dresses of choice. But the moment Axiara walked in, everyone's eyes quickly landed on her. Her diamond shaped face, deep blue eyes paired with long thick dark lashes, eye shadow, curled hair, and a red lipstick completed her overall striking look that garnered everyone's attention. Not to mention the dress she wore that accentuated her features even more.
Many men wanted to have a piece of her attention and asked her for a dance but she declined. Axiara isn't a type who enjoy parties. She likes to be alone by herself in a quiet peaceful place away from a busy crowd. A look of jealousy, judgement, suspicion, and amazement all followed her as she grazed down the hall especially Meredith. She was looking at her with pure hate and jealousy.
Everyone was preoccupied and busy enjoying the night that no one noticed an uninvited guest lurking in the dark had join the night hiding beneath the cloak of shadows waiting to strike.
A man noticed Axiara getting cold and without a second thought, decided to approach her.
"You must be cold. Here, use this". Handing Axiara his coat.
Axiara looked at him puzzled.
"Apologies, for my manner. My name is Zak. We've met before, you know the guy in a mask? Did that ring a bell?" Zak calmly introduced himself.
"Oh, right. I'm Axiara, nice meeting you again. Thank you for letting me borrow your coat I'd be lying if I say I'm not freezing. Appreciate your thoughtful gesture."
"No worries". Zak answered.
They were interrupted when a sudden call echoed in the entire hall.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! May I have your attention please".
Everyone gone silent and listened to what the headmistress was about to say.
"I hope everyone is having fun. I can see new faces and familiar ones looking beautiful tonight. But I won't drag this any longer because I know you've all been eager to witness new skills, talents and powers to be showcased here tonight. (Crowd cheering) without further ado, freshman's, please come forward once your name is called."
The headmistress started calling names one by one and each time, the crowd would loudly cheer.
"Axiara Montenegro of the Master's Kin it is now your turn to showcase the power god had bestowed upon you. Come and we shall see."
Axiara panicked. Her face turned pale she doesn't know what to do. She has not seen her power neither knew how to unleash it. She walked slowly into the center stage shaking. She paused and closed her eyes.
A few minutes had passed but she's still not able to show everyone her power. The impatient eyes started to complain. She was sweating - hard, she just wanted to go home.
"What's taking her so long?"
"What is she doing?"
"Hurry up!"
