*Diiiiing-a-liiiiing*
"Hey, Achi! You're not listening." Jenny pouted as she continuously hit me playfully on my left shoulder. The bell rang, huh? Guess it's time for us to go get lunch.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, of course I'm listening. You're saying something about you going out with Chad, right?"
"Yep! So you were listening. Good! We're going to go for our date this Saturday so don't call, okay?" Oh, right. Our usual Saturday night calls. Guess that's going to be gone for a very long time. I smiled at her, reassuring her that it's fine as she continued talking about her newly acquired boyfriend. It was starting to get annoying. I mean the pain inside my heart is increasing day by day. I don't even remember what happened to me after they kissed. I think she said that she found me at the bleachers while it was raining cats and dogs, looking so dazed while gazing at the wet empty football field. We went home afterwards as if nothing happened.
That was 3 weeks ago. I can't believe that I am still so stupidly in love with her despite her constantly bringing up that guy on literally every conversation we have now.
"Uh huh. Hey...I think I have to go now. I'll see you later, maybe?"
"Oh, sure! I'll just go look for Chad." She said so happily. I rushed to fix my things and my flavorless lunch. I started walking for a while until I ended up going to the roof. It sure is windy and isolated out here...perfect combination. It also has a good view of the football field and other outdoor activities.
"*sigh* Why couldn't it just have been me..."
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, you know. The guy she likes..."
"Oh! You like someone that doesn't like you back, huh? That must suck."
"Yeah...huh?!" I jumped, obviously surprised by her presence. A girl...that girl?! The same girl who got soda on me?!
"Wh-what the hell are you doing here?!" I shouted.
"*whispers* Shhh! Don't shout!"
"Then tell me, what are you doing here?"
"Me? This is my spot. This is where I usually go for lunch. How about you, Mr. Soda blue shirt. What are you doing here?" She smirked. I shrugged as I sat down on the floor, resting my back against the fence.
"None of your business. And my name is not Mr. Soda blue shirt. It's Achi." I said then I took a bite from my lunch. She smiled at me, trying so hard not to laugh. Waiting for me to ask what that smile meant.
"What?"
"Oh, nothing. I just think that Achi is such a wonderful girly name. Suits you, though" She giggled at her own joke.
"Ha ha so funny." I fake laughed.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! It's just...it's cute. I think it's cute. It really does suit you." She laughed while explaining. I, on the other hand, got pissed. Cute?! I'm cute?! I'm a freaking guy for crying out loud! I am not supposed to be cute. I stood up, glared at her before going for the door.
"W-wait! I'm sorry...I didn't mean to offend you, Achi. But I really do like your name. I promise that I won't use it to make fun of you anymore." She said earnestly. I sighed at her while walking back to where I was seated before.
"Runie...right?"
"Yep! It's good that you remember my name, but why didn't you text me?" Text you? Why in heaven's name would I text you? A stranger who spilled my drinks on me. She must've noticed me getting irritated once again.
"I...it's just that I wanted to make it up to you. You know, do something...anything to help you out. Especially since I spilled your drink on you."
"You don't have to do that."
"No, I insist!" She insists she says, there's no need though. Anyway, I told her that due to some unfortunate event, her number was washed off of my hand. She then handed out her phone to me while urging me to give her my phone. I shrugged before consenting and voila! I got a new friend. She smiled. The same kind of smile that I saw before she ran away last time. Looking at her now, she's not too bad looking. She's definitely average size. Slim waist and long black hair. Dark brown eyes and thin lips. For some reason, she looks her best when she smiles. She's...kind of attractive I suppose. We then started to have more conversation. An introduction of ourselves perhaps? Simple questions like what grade and class are you in. Where you grew up, favorite food, likes and dislikes, etc. I suppose we're...having fun.
"Not too shabby." I blurted out without thinking.
"Huh? What do you mean?" She said while looking at me questioningly.
"You...you don't look too shabby." I said. She then blushed at my sudden remark. There was an awkward silence between us afterwards. I just ate silently and when I finished my food, I got up and thanked her for spending her time with me. I then headed for the door without even waiting for her response when she--
"Wait! I...umm...I also had fun. When can I see you again?" She asked when she rushed up to me and stood there nervously. I guess I wasn't much of a bad company.
"I can probably go here tomorrow." Since I'm pretty sure that Jenny will be busy with Chad. She grinned. She hugged me before going to the stairs. When I saw her at the bottom of the stairs, she waved at me while saying--
"See you tomorrow!"
