~ An Ei short story ~

Ever since I discovered the difference between the Raider Shogun and Ei I was constantly catching myself thinking of the differences between them. The way they moved and the tone of their voice was all the same but Ei's eyes had a type of light the Shogun lacked.

Ei and I spent some quality time together ever since Paimon and I showed her around the Inazuma of today solving some issues in the meantime.

Since that day, Ei tended to come out of her plane of Euthymia more often, mostly spending her short breaks with Miko. Her friend said that Ei asked about me whenever they saw each other but Paimon and I were always away, discovering Inazuma and its secrets.

Truth was that in the beginning, both the Shogun and Ei looked like something unreachable, dangerous, raw and emotionless but to my experiences, those who tended to look this way were always the most sentimental. Upon meeting Ei I felt myself wanting to search deeper into her inner world, her thoughts and whatever fear or flaws a Goddess like her could ever have. I was interested in her, in a way that would make me look a little obsessed if I didn't control my need of talking about her.

Today though, we were going back to Inazuma city to gather supplies and maybe get some rest before leaving again. On our way was the Grand Narukami Shrine, so Paimon suggested we passed by to greet Miko and maybe ask about Ei's condition.

"She keeps asking about you. Pity you and her haven't had the time to catch up a little." Miko voiced naturally flirtatiously. I only smiled at her way, knowing that she had maybe understood the truth behind my interest in her friend.

"Yeah, she is right. To be asking for you, maybe Ei has something she wants to ask of you." Paimon said making Miko nod.

"Oh yeah. In fact, she did tell me that she had some questions for you."

My heart flattered at the means that were given to me into meeting with her again.

"Well. Can I have your pass then? Maybe it is urgent." I suggested and a naughty smirk appeared in the corner of her lips before speaking.

"You have no idea."

After handing me the pink card she walked away without another word, leaving me confused. Her way of saying this last sentence was weird but I wasn't sure if this is what I thought or I was actually right so, I turned my head towards Paimon for approval. Her confused eyes looking back at me the same way mine were, was enough of a reassurance itself so we ended up just shrugging it off simultaneously and slowly making our way to the city.

Growing impatient as we got closer I turned down Paimon's requests for a food break or a look at the book stores around. All I had in mind right now was the fact that I was about to meet Ei again and I had to pull myself together since she needed me sane more than I did her. If she had questions about the technology she had missed out on up to today or, wanted to know about new books or recent history, I had to be in the right condition to explain to her instead of looking for ways to cover our time doing things that would satisfy my own wants and needs.

"You should tell her not to isolate you again in this plane of Euthymia! Apart from getting too worried for you every time, Paimon's also pretty bored waiting for you to come back!" Paimon whined and her empty stomach didn't help on keeping her temper.
