Corey
All of the parents of kids at Ali and Aleeah's school were notified of a person having a gun in the school.
Leah was here too.
"Aleeah Simms?"
There was no response.
"Aliannah Simms?"
There was no response.
"I'm sure they're fine."
"No!" It was Aleeah.
You heard a gunshot.
"Leah!" I called her name as she ran into the school.
I ran into the school behind her.
Aleeah was on the floor in front of Ali.
She had jumped in front of her.
"Aleeah!" Ali yelled her name.
I picked Aleeah up.
Leah picked Ali up.
"My baby."
"It's gonna be fine."
Jeremy
Mom had been bugging me a lot lately.
My phone was getting blown up again.
I was ignoring it, not wanting to put up with her bullshit right now.
Corey
"Why aren't you answering your phone?!"
Leah chucked her phone onto the passenger seat.
"Leah, you need to calm down."
"Don't tell me what to do."
"Got it."
Jeremy
I got fed up with my phone getting blown up.
I pulled it out.
It was multiple missed calls from Leah.
She normally doesn't call me that many times unless it's urgent.
I was calling Leah back.
I climbed out of the hole.
She answered.
"What's wrong?"
"A kid had a gun at the school. Aleeah got shot."
"Oh, my God."
It was Friday afternoon.
It was around the time I normally leave to go home.
"Alright. Don't worry. She's gonna be fine."
"Yeah."
"I'll be home soon."
I hung up.
