His vision was foggy. The last thing he remembered was being saved by someone from drowning and his body went limp from the drop. He too remembered feeling glad and elated after convincing Bucky to recall his past, despite there was a slim chance that he would break free from his brainwashing.

But why he didn’t remember feeling trapped in a cold, dark place with his limbs and torso bound by metal straps?

Steve’s eyes opened widely and confirmed his previous thoughts. His back laid on a vertical metallic board, provided with the metal restraints over his body. He tried to unshackle himself but it wasn’t worth the effort – the restraints seemed to be unbreakable and couldn’t be broken down by a strong force, even for a super-soldier like himself. Not even a single crack was made on the strap.

He had no other choice but to heavily depend on two courses of action: beg his kidnappers to release him that may end up in a blood bath or wait for backup.

Tony. And Bucky.

Was Tony okay? What would his husband react if his mission went sideways? Did Bucky manage to snap out of HYDRA’s hypnosis?

The array of questions in his mind came to a halt when a tall, athletic man entered the room and walked towards him. Anger and disgust appeared on his face, his fingers curled into a ball of fist and without hesitation, the man whacked him on the belly. Steve groaned in pain, but the man continued to throw more punches on his body. What’s with the sudden torture on him while having zero knowledge about his whereabouts?

“Hauer, you can stop.” The Hauer guy ended his throw of punches and stepped aside for the German-accented voice echoing across the room to come forward. Somehow, he recognized this voice. Despite that, why would he hear a voice that brought him memories of the 1940s? “Captain Rogers, it’s a pleasure to meet you again, although I’m not sure if you remember me.”

The man showed himself and it hit him. He did remember the guy, one of the most distinguished people of HYDRA 70 years ago. No.

“Doctor Werner Reinhardt.” A wicked grin crept up on the man’s face.
