"Hello, everyone! I'm so glad that you all came!" The person upon the newly erected wooden platform exclaimed, clapping her hands together.

The said crowd the speaker was addressing all stood up clapping, hollering, and whistling for their self-elected leader. This very crowd included you and your parents. Although, unlike the masses, you sighed and slowly clapped with no enthusiasm. The oak wood half slabs that were supposed to be make-shift benches were unbearably uncomfortable to sit on. And, you already tried standing, your legs giving out.

"As you may all know or may not know., I'm Lillian. I organize mostly everything around here to keep us safe. Ah, before we get onto what you all are waiting for I have some quick announcements to make."

"Ugh..." You gaze upon the stage with deadly boredom. Stretching your arms, you yawned. What a snooze fest. Looking for a way out, you tugged on your dad's sleeve. "Dad, do I really have to be here? I've heard her speeches like a million times already..."

Your parents didn't say anything as they were caught up in listening so you relented to see what Lillian had to say this time. "Today, our lovely volunteers finished building the wall! And, we also have finished building the barracks for our new guard force. We already have a good few, but any of you can volunteer and receive training at the barracks! It's good to be able to defend ourselves!"

"Ah, no more creepers suddenly sneaking up on us and blowing up our house." Your mom joked, nudging you in the side. You couldn't help but snicker.

"That's a first." Your father added.

"Dad." You exaggerated, looking to those familiar (eye color) eyes with your own.

He sighed, not surprised by your teenage, stereotypical complaining. You did it every time. "(Name), you know how important this is. What she says could change this whole place. And, if we want to stay here, where it's safe for you -- for all of us..." Your father rests an arm around your shoulders, nudging your mother who smiles at you caringly. "We need to play by her rules."

Your mother takes your hand in hers and looks at you with sympathy. You and your mother never really liked the strict rules Lillian imposed, and there was much more you and mother could agree on. But, alas, she wanted what was best for you and wanted you to be somewhere safe.

"Look, sweetie. We get to our play our parts in helping this place grow, to help more people. We may not like it now, but that doesn't mean we can't follow our passions. And, don't worry, we won't get kicked out anytime soon... this village needs us just as much as we need them." Your mom winked at you, grinning. She knew you couldn't disagree. Your mother was a force of nature. There was no use in arguing with her and she knew it. "Oh, and I heard this quaint little place is getting an official name!"

"Minecraftia. The title of our growing civilization."

Several of the townsfolk jumped up and got even rowdier than before. Your parents dragged you to stand with them, your mother's excitement overwhelming you and your father.

"Yay..." You sarcastically cheered to yourself.

Lillian waited a moment for the crowd to settle down, taking in all of the praise and eagerness up in the air. It was truly exhilarating, so many people coming together for a single cause, a name even.

"We'll restore our former glory and then move past it!"

More cheers and more of you tuning this whole speech out.

"I think of a future where we no longer have to be afraid of the hostile mobs. No longer will we be hunted for sport! And, no longer, do we have our loved ones be slain by those putrid, ruthless monsters!"

Isn't that what we do? You thought, looking at the sky in dreadful wonder. You were critical of everything that came out of Lillian's mouth. Your thoughts began to pool over into what it would've been like if you and your family were to never come here in the first place. Dangerous, but you were used to that. Lonely, but you had your parents. Where you used to live, you had freedom. Here, you have safety... and your first friend. You looked around for him, sad that you couldn't find him standing with some of the other guards.

You cringed as Lillian went on with her violent rhetoric, going on about how some hostile mobs killed her daughter or something. It was sad but she always told that story and used it as a means to gain everyone's sympathies. You didn't like that and wanted out.

You tap on your dad's shoulder, letting him know you were going to leave to take a leak. He didn't look back at you but whispered to you to be back quick.

You knew well in your thoughts that you weren't going to be 'back quick.' This was perhaps the first time you were successful in ditching one of Lillian's 'seminars.' Once you were a good distance away, you jumped up victoriously, eager to get home and snack on some cookies.

It was when you already walked away from the town gathering that your dad noticed you actually left. He groaned, realizing what you did. You used the bathroom excuse before but this time he was so engrossed with the speech that you got away with it. Minecraftia was safe, he didn't need to worry, but he was going to have a talk with you once he got home.

"Get back here!" A shout unheard by the crowd.

"Ha! Smell ya later, losers!" A taunt also unheard by the crowd.

Unknown to the rest of the town, the newly appointed guard force was chasing after a forbidden adversary.

It all happened so fast.

It was just another usual night of Lillian preaching her usual rhetoric. The next thing you know, the plaza was up in flames.

Dispensers obscured by the stage spat out fire charges into the air. From those of a ghast, fire charges were as destructive as creeper explosions. The explosives rained down, sending the whole town in a frenzied panic. The fire charges found their ways into buildings and structures and... people. Some definitely undeserving people, including your parents.

AN: Hey, just a lil author's note. Yes, for those you who aren't new, this is being rewritten. I am really dissatisfied with how my previous chapters were and I want to give this story another shot. I want to keep the same general plot but uh I guess I want to write it better? Yeah. With the chapters I've already rewritten, there's some changes already but again, same plot direction. I hope to write the characters I've planned for this story better and be able to introduce some characters I didn't get to introduce! I will say, however, that I just started school so please bear with me. But, I want to engage with you all more so feel free to ask questions, write your feedback, etc.
