sitting in your homeroom, you took a once over of everyone in the class, unconsciously searching for koshi. his presence always brought you comfort, and in your time of irritation, you really needed it. but his seat was empty. no bag sitting on the ground beside his desk to even signal he came into the room. it made you even more irritated, even though he was the cause of it in the first place.

with nothing more to do, you sighed and leaned your chin in the palm of your hand, closing your eyes, and letting your thoughts run on their own. why was he acting so distant all of a sudden? did you do something unknowingly? you raked your mind to search for an answer but nothing came to mind.

❝whatever,❞ you rolled your eyes. two can play at that game.

as petty as it seemed, you didn't care to deal with it. if he wanted space, you would be sure to give him exactly that.

going to the boys' after school practice was normal for you, yet felt strange not to have koshi by your side as you walked through the heavy, metal doors. everyone, unsuspecting of what happened between you and him, smiled and said - or rather yelled in some cases - their greetings joyously. you nodded in response, flashing a quick smile before turning back to your note-filled journal and sitting on a nearby bench. you momentarily looked up, eyes darting from one player to the next until you stopped on a familiar head of silver strands. your eyes narrowed but then rolled, seeing him laugh and joke with the captain of the team.

❝hey,❞ a voice started, but then trailed off. you looked to your right to find tsukishima, holding a water bottle in one hand with a questioning eyebrow raised.

    yes?

❝you seem off today. did someone try to start shit again?❞ he sat next to you, back hunched as his elbows rested on his knees.

you looked over to koshi again, only to find him already staring before quickly turning away. you smirked. ❝something like that, i guess.
