"GOOOOOOODMORNING SLEEPYHEAD" my obnoxious sister bellowed right outside of my closed door, waking me up in a cruel and unnecessary manner. Glancing over at the retro style red alarm clock I'd gotten on my 13th birthday, I realized the time and suddenly became infuriated.
"It's 5am what is your problem!?" I retorted angrily.
"TICKET SALE DAY SIS, NEED TO BE UP BRIGHT AND EARLY!!" replied Liv, in an annoyingly upbeat tone, I swear one of these days I'm going to murder that girl. Did she really need to wake me up at 5am on a Saturday? No, because I'm not the one buying the tickets or going to the concert, she is!
Feeling homicidal as ever I groaned and rolled out of bed, there was no way that little shit was going to let me fall back asleep. Scanning my room I located my favourite pair of soft sweats and slid them on, grabbed my Bring Me The Horizon shirt and pulled it over my head, put my hair into a severely messy bun, and walked through our neutral coloured hall on my way to the kitchen. There was no way I wouldn't seriously injure someone in this house if I didn't get coffee in me immediately. Looking into my sisters room to glare at her before I reached the kitchen, I didn't see her face, only the top of her head as she sat hunched over her laptop repeatedly refreshing the TicketMaster page so she wouldn't miss out on her precious concert tickets. As I reached the kitchen I was greeted by my equally tired and frustrated mother, who had already started a pot of coffee, she smiled and quietly giggled after hearing my sigh of relief as I slumped into one of the tall black stools at the sparkly grey granite island."How did she wake you up?" I asked my mother, still using my half asleep crack addict voice. (I probably still looked like a crack addict as well, as mornings aren't kind to me)
"Pretty much the same as you, only for me it was two inches from my face"
We both laughed, and the coffeemaker beeped indicating our coffee was done brewing. Our eyes both lit up, causing us to giggle again. She walked across the kitchen to the fridge, pulling out my favourite hazelnut coffee creamer and smirking at me. My mom truly was beautiful, from her long chestnut hair to her piercing green eyes, her personality made it even better. Brianna Lynn Moon is the type of mom who's your best friend and you can tell anything to, but also the type of mom you do NOT want to piss off because the punishments weren't cruel but embarrassing which is so much worse. In seventh grade I had a really bad habit of not doing the chore I hated most, cleaning up after the German Shepard we had.. and well.. she made me take my lunch to school in a dog poop bag, which was pretty hard to explain to my friends. She walked over and handed me my coffee, made exactly the way I like it. (I don't think it really counts as coffee if it's half cream does it? Oh well.) She stood across from me at the island looking just as annoyed as I felt, but still carrying pleasant conversation. Once the coffee kicked in we both looked a little more like human beings and a little less like extras from The Walking Dead.
"I don't understand the hype with this band, I mean they're definitely not hard to look so maybe that's it." said my mom slyly as she sipped her coffee.
"MOM THEY'RE HALF YOUR AGE!" I replied trying my hardest to hold back a laughing fit.
"So? Doesn't mean I can't look baby girl!" she commented, now also trying to avoid laughing.
"Ew mom, whatever Calum is mine I have dibs just saying." chimed my sister, my mom just agreed which is the safe thing to do when it comes to Liv and her band member obsessions. "Anyways, guess who got front row tickets?!" she screeched in excitement.
"Congrats, does that mean can I go back to bed now?" I replied sarcasticly, "Who's the poor sucker going with you this time?" The room got uneasily quiet and nobody would make eye contact with me. "What? Just tell me guys!" the nervousness in my voice was obvious, there was no way my parents would make me go with her... would they?
My mom was the first one to speak, timidly she began to explain
"Well... sweetie, please don't be angry, but your father and I need to work the week around the concert. We have no choice and it's in Toronto so we can't just let her go on her own, I'll make it up to you I promise"
I don't think I've ever been so angry so early in the morning, everyone in this house knows how much I despise that band, despite listening to any of their music aside from the torture of as I mentioned earlier, "She Looks So Perfect" stuck on repeat for hours on end. I really had no idea what their other music sounded like, I just knew how severely pop that song is, and it frustrated me to no end the fact that they were labeled as punk rock when they produce songs like that.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?" I yelled, I've never yelled at my mom but I couldn't control myself. I knew the concert was the same week my best friend and I had planned on going on a road trip to Jasper, a beautiful town with absolutely stunning scenery. "You knew I had plans for that week with Taci. How could you do this?" I knew Taci liked 5SOS, almost as much as my sister, so if she found out I had to cancel the road trip to go to this concert she'd never completely forgive me.
"Well I made Olivia get three tickets, she had to pay for all of them on her own. One is for herself, the other two for you and Taci because I know she likes their music and this way you don't have to cancel entirely." said my mom, trying but not really succeeding to comfort me.
"You know what fine, it's not like I have much of a choice. I'm just so surprised you would do this." I ended the conversation and walked into my room, collapsing onto my bed and plugging my headphones in. I went straight to YouTube and looked up 5 Seconds of Summer, I figure if I'm going to have to deal with this hell up close and personal in the front row I might as well know a few songs I guess. The first three songs I listened to were "Rejects", "Social Casualty" and "18"... I refuse to turn into my sister but not bad, not bad at all.
