Because of all the bus commotion, we didn't get back to school until it was damn near midnight. When we finally pulled up to the school, we're met with a lot of cars in the parking lot followed by angry or worried parents wondering why their children had not yet returned home.
Once we start loading off the bus, we see teens being hugged or lectured by their parents/guardians. The Teachers and Principal had to explain to all of the parents what had happened so that they could better understand what was going on.
Kate, Deena, Simon, and I stood on the sidelines. We were all tired and just wanted to go to bed, however as tired as I was, I still felt sick to my stomach. Kate must've picked up on it " You alright Koko?"
" Y-Yeah I guess" I replied but I wasn't.
" Is this about Peter? He's not gonna do shit, he's nothing but talk" Deena reassured me.
" It's not that, I don't care about Peter!" I raised my voice slightly " It's Derrick, I just feel sick to my stomach because I know that once he regains consciousness, he's gonna tell his parents that I was one of the people responsible for them crashing"
" Oh yeah...fucking Derrick" Deena said as she let out a frustrated sigh.
" I already have a strained relationship with them and this incident is only gonna make it worse" I tell them.
" No doubt they already called his parents, I mean dude was more fucked up than anyone else in the car" Simon decided to cut in.
" That's because that damn fool thought it was a good idea to stick his body through the roof of the car" Kate started " He should be lucky that he didn't instantly die, cause the moment that car crashed, he should've immediately went flying into the fucking tree"
I let out a frustrated sigh as I let my hair loose from the scrunchy causing it to fall all over me, I run my fingers through it as I paced back and forth " Relax Komaru, we've already talked about this earlier, just spend the night at my house for a couple of days and wait for it to all blow over, my mother loves you she won't mind" Kate told me as she stopped me mid freak out.
" Y-Yeah alright" I agree.
" Well, I gotta get home" Deena said " I'm sure my Dad and Josh are wondering where I am"
" Bye" Kate and I said as she started to walk off down the street.
" Yeah, I gotta jet too" Simon said hugging me, I don't return it " See you guys tomorrow night"
" See ya" Kate told him.
" Don't get caught with those drugs" I told him.
" I won't beautiful" He said as he walked off causing me to blush.
I look over and see Kate smirking " You and Simon huh? Not a bad match up, I think you two would be cute together"
" Ew you wish" I say laughing, leave it to Kate to make me feel better in my times of need.
" And just where have you been?"
We heard a voice and we immediately knew who it was, we turned to see Kate's mother Miss Schmidt pulling up in her station wagon " Oh hey Mom" Kate responded nonchalantly.

" Hi Miss Schmidt" I say with a smile as I waved.
She smiled back " Komaru hello! It feels like it's been forever since you visited"
" Yeah sorry, I've been dealing with life, school, and work" I apologized feeling bad.
" Oh no, that's good, you work as hard as you can and get a good education to get out of this shithole of a town" Miss Schmidt encouraged me, I smiled.
" Hey Mom, Komaru's foster family are being a bunch of dicks right now, can she stay over for a few nights?" Kate asked her Mom as she adjusted her hair in the reflection of the back window.
" Of course, you didn't need to ask me that Kate you know how I feel about Komaru, she's like a second daughter to me" Miss Schmidt replied unlocking the car door causing us to get in, Kate in the passenger seat me in the back seat.

I had just finished showering and was now chilling with Kate in her room, we were both laying in her bed listening to the radio and talking waiting for our eyes to get heavy. However as we were talking about whatever, the house phone in her room started to ring and she answered it.
" Hello?" Kate said curious to know who was calling her at this time of night.
I curiously watched her as she listened to the mysterious person on the other side of the line. I see her face go from completely unbothered to very annoyed in the few seconds she was listening, she takes the phone off her ear and hands it to me.
" It's for you" She replied in an annoyed tone as she rolled her eyes and laid back down.
" Who is it?" I asked raising my eyebrow.
" The Cromwell Brady Bunch" Kate replied, and my good mood turned sour as I hesitantly put the phone to my ear, the cord resting on Kate.
" Hello?" I answered.
" Komaru you are in huge trouble young lady! One why are you still not back in this house and it's 2 something in the morning? And why is my Derrick laying in a hospital bed?!" Anna yelled at me with resentment in her voice.
" Because one I'm not coming home for the next few days, and two because your son and his friends were being fucking idiots trying to run my friends and I off the road!" I sassed back not really caring how she felt.
" Don't EVER call my son a fucking idiot you ungrateful brat!" She screamed back at me which fueled my bottled-up rage.
" No! You know what! Fuck you, your husband, and your son!" I yelled back at her " I hope your son stays a fucking vegetable for the rest of his life!"
I heard her scream in anger over the phone. There was a moment of silence before another voice filled my ear " We should've left you in the system, we should've just gotten a much younger kid, you keep it up and you'll find yourself back there you little monster" it was Daniel, I had never heard this side of him before, so much so that it caught me off guard.
I stayed quiet for a bit " Well, go ahead then, wouldn't be the first time someone abandoned me, that's okay you won't see me for a while anyways."
I handed the phone to Kate who put it back on the hook, I sat there with my knees drawn to my chin just staring off into space thinking about what he had said, I mean I knew they felt that way but I'd never thought that cheery Daniel of all people would be the one to say it to my face, I had to admit it really stung.
" You okay Koko?" Kate asked putting her hand on my shoulder.
" Y-Yeah, let's just...go to sleep" I say, my voice a bit shaky " After all you have to stock up your energy seeing as to how you'll be babysitting tomorrow night."
With that I laid down, my back facing her, she stayed quiet before turning out her light and turning the radio off, it was very quiet now.
I tried my best not to let my emotions get the best of me, but it was useless once I felt tears coming down my cheeks and slowly moving from one side of my face to the other do to me laying on my side. I tried my best to sniffle softly, but I guess I didn't do a very good job because within a matter of seconds, I felt Kate wrap her arm around me.
" Screw them alright" Kate whispered to me " You still have me, my mom, Simon, and Deena"
" I-I know" I answered back " You're right Kate...you're always right, I love you"
