As she rested her head back against the seat, she took one more shot of bourbon and tried to weld her mind and relax. She didn't expect a specific memory to barrier her thoughts.
"What are you doing mommy?"
His voice startled her. Usually she could tell when her son was near because he would tell 'Mommy, Mommy to make himself known. But today wasn't that day. Her mind was racing with so many different thoughts about how she was going to tell her son she was going to help his father and family.
"Come here baby." She said. "Mommy is going to be away for a while."
"Why?" The confusion and sadness in his voice that almost wanted to take him with her, but she knew it was not safe for him.
"While I have to help a couple of people that are in need of mommy help." Bonnie could see the tears in his eyes.
"Why can't I come with you with you mommy? You said I was safe with you."
"I know but your going to be with auntie Care and play with Lizzie and Josie, won't that be fun?" Caroline was already in the car ready to take to Toby to the Salvatore school.
"I love you mommy." Tears were falling down his eyes.
"I love you too" She said while hugging him.
That was five hours earlier, and she had tried to contact Caroline to talk to Toby but he was busy playing with the twins.
