My clan moved from the hotel we were settled in, to a very run down barn. The boards once covered in paint were now faded. The nails and steel work were completely covered in rust as well. Of course my group didn't like the move but we were welled prepared for the movement. They settled in and made preparations for the night. This was not our first.
"Sam?" Nedlin asked.
Nedlin was one of the members that were my age. They were hard to find now since the president killed most of them. They they thought that if they tired to kill a Born it would react differently than a regular human, in which they didn't understand that we were also human. Nedlin helped with a lot of the prep work for the move.
"What's up?" I responded.
"The group isn't sure about this." He says.
"They are afraid?" I asked curious.
"Sadly yes; but mostly angry."
"Allow them to eat, I will give a speech in a hour." I said giving an order.
Nedlin left with a nod; leaving me alone in the silent room.
The twins began to appear as he left. Arth was laying down on the dirt. Lional looking around at the new surrounding.
"Interesting." he said intrigued.
"What's so interesting?" I asked.
"Nedlin's choosing of a second home for you and the clan." He says still looking around.
"Is it that bad?"
"No, not at all! It's very secluded I will admit, but great for hiding." He answers.
I sigh just this whole thing was a mess up. It wasn't my or any of the other Born's faults this was happening but it is what it is.
"What should I tell them? They don't trust my judgment anymore." I said kicking the dirt.
"The truth."
"Which is?"
"That there is an end to this, it's just a process."
"That's true." I said still looking down.
"That's why I said,'the truth'." He laughs.
I laugh along with him but I noticed it was just me and him laughing. I turned to the white lion.
"Lional?"
"I'm sorry." He said transforming.
"For what?"
"This whole thing." It's cruel and messed up." He says.
"That's not your fault." I tell him.
"Yeah, but I feel bad for you and the others." he said looking down.
"I know you do, but it's okay." I said, placing my hand on his shoulder, squeezing it tight.
"I'm going to talk to them."
They nod as I turn to leave the room.
"WE ALREADY KNOW THIS BORN!" Yells one of the members.
"Listen we all need to keep our heads." I said calmly.
"BULL CRAP!" They yell.
This was making me angry. My own family was accusing me of something I had no control over. I felt like exploding, feeling like my anger had so much pressure on me. I left the room in a sprint; I needed an escape. Suddenly bright white lights were flashing all around me causing me to tumble into moist grass. Suddenly the whole world was white. Big, loud explosions of black color where surrounding me. I got up to run, but suddenly being slammed into the ground by the explosions. I laid there, not ready for the pain, but ready for death. I remembered how alone I felt over my years, no one to listen to me. No one there to help me, and give me sense. But in this moment I didn't want to scream for help, I didn't want to talk to anyone. NO ONE. They don't need the Born anymore. The Born that was supposed to fix everything. The Born that was kind to everyone. The Born that took every measure to make people happy. The Born that would kill to see someone smile. That Born was broken and tired of trying. After a year of lost sleep, the Born could finally sleep; but the nightmares were still lingering. The born hated herself. She wanted to cause pain, but didn't have the nerve to be cruel again. The Born gave herself pain, she killed her mind, body and soul. This Born was broken and damaged.
A pair of white and black figure shaped like lions were walking towards me as I laid on the white surface. Then they broke into a sprint, jumping on top of me, attacking me. They transformed into human forms, one yelling at the other.
"YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO HER! SHE'S SUFFERED ENOUGH!" One yelled trying to pull the black shadow off my body.
"She agrees that death sounds good." The black shadow said coldly.
"IT'S NOT HER TIME YET!" The white one yelled with fear in his voice.
"Let her choose." The black shadow said.
Both head were now looking at me, the white one more looking toward the black one. Was he protecting me? My thoughts were all rambled, this must be what death feels like. The flashes began again, the figures disappearing and reappearing. Suddenly a sharp pain was felt near the inside bend of my elbow. Someone or something ejected something into me. I winced at the pain, looking down at my arm. The ground was turning into a reflective tint of stainless steel, the white surrounding was now turning to black except for the bright white circle above me. Suddenly thoughts were entered into my mind, Born, I wasn't even Born. I was this girl that was mental. I was gone. I was the girl that lost her family to a serial rapist/killer. I was the only victim that had survived from him. I was the schizophrenic. The trauma caused me to be like this. I was the girl that was sent to a 'special' place the insane go to. Sadly, you thought this was a story with a happy ending, with the hero winning the war and getting the fame and glory; didn't you. Welcome to reality, you completely feel into my dream. My broken, scared, angry, crazy, dream. I was welcomed here, and now so are you.
Welcome to the Asylum.
