cw: a lot of death, blood
The next few days were hell. Tommy couldn't stop sobbing over Tubbo's cold body, visiting his best friend in the bedroom a seemingly empathetic Phil had placed him in.
When Phil had opened his arms for a hug, this time the blonde didn't refuse, sobbing into his arms, eyes blurred with tears. Little did he know Phil was smirking above him.
Tubbo's expression was calm, a great peace had settled on him and stayed. His eyes were half open, like he knew something they didn't, and his arms were at his side. His body was white as a sheet.
Tommy would visit regularly, wailing and crying over his friend he'd lost for good because of his foolish selfishness. No, his two friends he'd lost. His only friends. That only made him bawl more.
As the days went by and it was a week since Tubbo's untimely death, things slowly went back to normal. Tommy hadn't the tears left to cry for his best friend. He was too fucking tired.
Techno would bring him bowls of blood and he'd take them, knowing what would happen if his hunger got the better of him again.
He didn't dare to question where it was from.
He was sleeping with his back to Tubbo's bed frame when Wilbur came in and shook him awake.
"Hey, Toms," said Wilbur. "How are you holding up?"
"Not good," said a sleepy Tommy.
"Well, it's okay. Ranbo was a bad friend anyway."
"It's Ranboo. Plus he wasn't!"
"He ditched you after you got hungry. He should have stayed and comforted you! He should have done the things I am now, asking you how you're holding up and whatnot. But where is he? Probably at the stupid shack he and your beloved Tubbo built with you! Using your stuff! He's a bad friend, Tommy. Don't feel bad, man, you dodged a bullet there," Wilbur exclaimed. Wil noticed that in the ancient mirror, there was just an empty bed.
"Yeah... I guess you're right..." said Tommy, his tears drying on his cold skin. How vampires even made tears was a mystery to him, because apparently they had no blood or heartbeat, didn't need to breathe and didn't need to sleep. So how they made tears was puzzling.
He decided not to question it, everything was so confusing anyway.
"C'mon, we're taking you on your first Hunt."
"My what?"
"You'll see," Wilbur smugly said. "Follow me."
Tommy complied and saw Phil and Techno at the door, looking at him comfortingly.
Was Tommy really coming to consider them as family?
They set out to somewhere that he didn't know, a tiny village with only three houses. It wasn't even a village. It was a collection of houses, really.
"Okay, Tommy. We're gonna trust you with this. What you have to do to prove yourself is sneak into those houses unnoticed and kill everyone inside. Kill everyone in the three houses. That's your task," whispered Phil. "It's getting dark so it'll be easy."
Tommy felt sick to his stomach. Was he gonna do this? Really?
He had to prove himself, so he set out and slowly pushed open the first door. Two men were on their sofa, on opposite sides.
One of them saw something flash across the hall to the living room, but didn't do anything. Just his mind playing tricks.
Tommy scampered into the kitchen, butterflies forming in his stomach.
He sighed, and noticed one of the men had gone upstairs, they must have had an argument or something.
Tommy sprinted across the room and clamped his sharp fangs into the man's neck, gripping his head with one hand tightly and covering the man's mouth with the other.
He instantly understood why the others loved killing so much, the feeling of drinking to your heart's content was so corrupting and he loved it.
He drank and drank and even though he was satisfied he still drank more.
The corners of his mouth were dripping but he didn't care, all he felt in that moment was ecstasy.
The unknown man was slumped, unmoving, on the sofa, his skin a milky white.
The blonde crept upstairs to where the other guy was and leaped at him, piercing his skin. The man screamed but Tommy didn't care since there was nobody to answer his cries. Or so he thought.
The heavenly feeling of blood running down his dry throat made the blonde laugh hysterically. He didn't realise how corrupted he was getting.
A woman ran up the stairs.
"David? Is everything oka- OH GOD!" she shouted, seeing the bloody mess Tommy and the room was and the motionless corpse lying on the ground that must have been David.
Before she could react, the teen launched himself at her and submitted her to the same gruesome fate the men had shared.
Blood running down his chin, Tommy was a grinning mess, on a high from too much blood.
He visited all the houses until nine corpses replaced the nine residents.
He slowly walked back to the group, beaming with a bloodstained shirt and face.
Even Techno was impressed.
"Wow, you really enjoyed that, huh?" chuckled Phil. "We thought you needed a distraction from the-" he coughed, "...tragedy, that befell you. I guess it worked, haha."
"Yeah," said a grinning Tommy. "I enjoyed that," he admitted as he wiped some blood off his face.
They went home and the high Tommy was on lasted long. The others wanted details, what the victims looked like, how much blood they had, if they screamed or not, if they cried, etc.
They also had a long conversation about how to properly turn someone.
After a long while, Tommy decided to visit Tubbo.
Well, he tried to.
When he got there, his heart dropped.

Tubbo was gone.

———————————————————————
Tommy gasped. Had someone taken the body? What happened? Why was Tubbo not there?
"GUYS!" Tommy screamed down the hallway.
"I NEED HELP! C'MERE PLEASE!"
The others hurried down the hallway and were shocked to find the absent body.
"Did anyone move or take the body? Be honest. Please."
A resounding chorus of "Nope", "Not me," and "Wasn't me" met Tommy's ears.
Suddenly, something smashed in the kitchen.
They all ran towards the kitchen and something unexpected happened.
Someone was in the kitchen, and turned towards them.
It was Tubbo.
"T-Tubbo-?" said a disbelieving Tommy.
"Am I hallucinating? You're dead! Your- your heart stopped and your pulse stopped and- and you died!
Tubbo simply just said, "What happned... I just tried to get... get a glass of water... and my skin it just... white? I dropped the gla-glass, sorry about that, Tom..." said the voice Tommy was sure he'd never hear again.
He was torn between overjoyed at the survival of his friend and confusion. He had died! Why was he back!?
Tubbo's eyes widened and he realised... He wasn't alive.
Tubbo's eyes were a bright orange as he viewed the people behind the young blonde. His mouth opened to show glistening fangs as he gasped at the famous vampires behind Tommy.
Phil gaped back at Tubbo.
"I thought you said I couldn't turn him, Phil?" said Tommy smugly. "You were wrong, bitch! Here he is!"
Phil was lost for words. "Wha- that's impossible- what? How? Is that your special ability?"
"What?" Tubbo was utterly perplexed by the situation. All he had wanted was a glass of water and he was being surrounded by his vampire best friend and three of the most dangerous vampires in existence.
"Tubbo, I'm sorry to break it to you but... You're like me," said Tommy, trying to be soothing but ultimately sounding harsh.
"What? Blonde?" Tubbo was confused.
"No. A vampire."
Tubbo's head started to spin, he couldn't be a vampire! He knew Tommy was one, he'd heard the conversations they'd had when he woke up about turning people and something about houses, but he himself was preposterous.
He felt his teeth and they were so sharp they pricked his finger as he winced.
He looked at his friend with teary eyes.
"D-did you do this to me, Tommy..?"
The blonde teen fidgeted a little before admitting, "Yes. I did. I'm so sorry, Tubbo, I didn't mean it and I-"
That was enough for him to hear. He pelted through the hallways and out the grand door, wailing and sobbing. Why would Tommy ever do this to him? He ran for mere seconds through the woods next to the mansion when he bumped into someone tall. Someone very tall. And very familiar.
He looked up into the person's face.
"Ranboo?"
