The grandfather clock ticked back and forward breaking the silence between the three of them. To Leia, it sounded eerie as if it was watching them. It's almost as if Isabella was watching them through every corner. This morning Ray brought Leia to their mother's room. Having another spy on her hands would get things done much quicker. Mom gave her an assignment already. To watch Don and Gilda.
Ray snickered. Yet it seemed more of a wicked snicker, "Are you serious?" He took his hand out of his pocket, "Cut it out."
"Ray, you've realized right?" Norman begin.
Leia looked over to him as her hands were clasped close to her chest. He had that sly grin on his face. It made her unsettle.
"I set a trap for four people. I told Don it was behind my bed and Gilda was told it was in the second-floor bathroom ceiling. At least, that's what I told you. But I actually told Don the dining hall and Gilda the library. The rope behind my bed ended up disappearing. So what about the other locations?" Norman looked over to Leia causing her to be startled.
"Should we go over and check them?" He rose a brow at her.
The grandfather clock broke the silence. Leia looked down and played with her fingers. If anything, she didn't think Norman would suspect of her so soon. Ray huffed and flopped sitting down on the bed. Both Leia and Norman watch him fall backward letting his body lay down. He placed his arm on top of his head.
What is he thinking?
His laugh started out low but then grew louder. To Leia, he sounded insane. Her eyes grew wide as her pupils dilated in horror. Slowly she looked over to Norman as he glared at her, scanning her quite lifelessly. It freaked her out as she took a step back and hiccuped. Her hand slapped her mouth as she whimpered looking down.
"Oh man, and here I thought I was doing so well." Ray peered over to look at Norman. Leia didn't dare to look at him. The raven-haired boy lazily sat up and crossed his leg. "Yeah, you are right. I am the one who has been spying for Mom." He reached out his hand with a grin, "So what gave it away?"
Norman stood in front of Ray looking down at him and crossed his arms. "It was when Sister first came to the house. I was disgusted with myself."
Leia let out a small gasp.
"I suspected you instantly. My own friend. It was really the worst-case scenario. I wish I had been wrong about it." Norman then looks over to the girl, "Don't think I forgot about you."
Leia swallowed that large lump that was building up in the back of her throat. It left a horrible plain taste. "I- I don't know what you're talking about. Or why you even involved me in this." She looked over to Ray for help.
"Just drop the act, Leia. I noticed it very recently. When you started to get all up on Gilda. Sure you only became Mom's spy recently but I am sure you got your reasons for doing so." He glared at her. His eyes then shifted to Ray, "Because you being the traitor would be problematic for us. For the enemy picking, you were the obvious choice. I am still having a hard time understanding why she would suddenly want Leia's help. Anyhow, you would be able to provide input to our plan. Which would be perfect for controlling the situation. You are the best one for the job."
Leia slowly took a set next to him carelessly. She kept looking down at the hardwood maple floor. Her hands crossed together as they rested on her knees.
