Chapter One That's not my Name
(Keith's Prologue)
His face was gloomy, and his lips compressed. He was gloomy and hotheaded, the moment the drug wore off, and his body was able to move to its full functions again. He didn't know where he was, but he was sure it was no place he wanted to be. His dark-colored eyes darted back and forth. The cell appeared just as dark as the wind on his back. Three thick prison bars were in front of him, being so close to them, he could probably feel the cool temperatures of the metal, if he only wished to reach a little further. He didn't know where he was, or what had happened before, waking up in the prison cell, but he was sure it had to do with the needle he just had to remove from his right thigh. The needle was sharp, and very pointed. The end contained bits of his own black blood, from which someone had stabbed it into him. If he touched his skin, with even the slightest touch, who knew what kinds of pain would bother him. Deciding to leave it alone, he pushed himself across the dark/bluish cement ground, and stopped once he found the back wall. Going to quickly made his back connect with it pretty hard. He couldn't stop himself from letting out a small grunt of pain? He wasn't sure, his muscles seemed just as paralyzed as the rest of him. Except for the fact he could still move his fingers and toes, granted him at least some of his normal functions, although his fingers and toes weren't going to be enough to escape the prison, that was for sure.
Surprised, when his eyes found something interesting, he crossed him to the sight of the bars again, bringing his body back over to the three thick bars in front of him. Slowly, he brought a hand to the bars, but gasped as the three of them vanished when he touched them.
Now all there was in front of him, was the same wall behind him, now in front of him. He took his touch away, and watched as the three bars returned, giving him at least a little of light now. The cell block fell silent again, except for his harsh breathing, effects of the drug, and he sensed the smell of human blood. Which he was sure the other prisoners could as well. The blood smelled so amazing to him; it smelled so sweet, and his hunger for it only worsened the longer the scent lingered above him. He only wished for clean air, anything that could keep him from the smell of hunger.
He stared with his full attention when he heard it. The surprise low growling of an animal. An animal who's cell was right across from him. He hadn't seen it before, but now he could, and as he took in the larger sights of that cell, vs the one they had placed him in, his curious grew high. His desire for blood slowed, as his mind could keep him distracted, and right now, he wanted nothing more than to figure out what kind of large creature needed such a large prison cell. His hands appeared through the cell bars, as he motioned his body forward, his eyes searching for any features he could make out of the creature. His eyes searched and searched for any visible feature,....it only took about five minutes for him to locate an obvious part of the creature's body.
The left arm, and parts of the fairest skin he'd ever seen before. It was brought to his attention. The thing was laying flat, and unconscious, in that cell. His face lying on the cold cement, those warrior eyes tightly held closed.
''Serpent!'' he exclaimed. ''Serpent, can you hear me!'' he shouted. His long time closest friend was bloodied and unconscious. As he trailed through every bit of memory and thought, he trailed his thigh, just below where the needle had been stabbed in, and fell back onto his knees. Deep in thought, his eyes burned for a second, and he was instantly standing now. A stern expression on his face now, as his brain finally gave him what he wanted. Answers.
He could remember everything now. Where he was, and what had happened. How he'd ended up drugged and imprisoned. Having the knowledge he wanted, and received, made his blood boil, and anger to flow up in his veins. How could he have ever forgotten? How could he have let those demons get the drop on him! Get the drop on Serpent and his sister. Dove was probably crying, worried sick for him, and for herself? In the hands of the demons, no one usually ever survived. Not unless they took in a liking in you, and declared you a slave, a worker, or keep you as a prison, locked away in the cells, till they get bored, and finally decide to release you. Releasing usually means killing you. Either way, you are never seen outside the walls, again.
He gripped the bars of his cell and pressed his face against them, trying to see into the neighboring cells! Somewhere, hopefully close by, his sister was locked up. Just like him, and he was convinced to find her. Although as he touched the bars for a second time, again they vanished. He was staring at the thick, dark/blue walls again, sitting in complete darkness. He swore under his breath, and let his fingertips trail the wall, before they his hands fell to his lap. Watching closely as the bit of blue light, and fresh bit of air, returned. ''Bring him here, I'd like to have a brief chat...'' breathed a rough, mysterious face. He did not hide the disgust in his eyes, taking two steps back, shuddering his disgust and fear. He was far away from the cell bars now. The echoing sounds of musty, and thick, footsteps came towards him, causing a serious frown to come onto his face, as he armed himself with whatever there was in the cell. Which only seemed to be a medium-sized bolder. It wasn't much, but enough to cause some damage.
He reached for the bolder, with a shaking hand, until a swift bit of gusting wind blew across his face. His cheeks turned the shade of light blue, as a familiar face appeared in front of him, past the bars. His inner soul felt drawn to her as soon as he saw her. Freezing, he couldn't move anymore. The girl in front of him, those dark eyes appeared haunted, but all he could see past them, was her delicately beautiful face. Her bone stretch popped out at him, as her pale lips motioned threatening words toward him.
''Put it down..'' she breathed. ''if you don't, Serpent is dead.''
She knew his name. His friend's name, and he was threatening him. Somehow, this girl knew him. But he had no memory of her face. He was sure if he did, her ghostly eyes wouldn't have caught him so off guard. He was stunned, but nodded to her, as more people came running over to his cell. His eyes trailed past all the others, as they took him, more like pushed, him out of his cell. His body was caught before he could fall, arms holding his shoulders, as he smelled a woman's sweet perfume entering his nostrils. He felt chocked, but only for a second. The fiery trail of her breath against his neck as his heart raced.
He was being touched, with no way to stop it. Unless he wanted something awful to happen to his friend, most importantly to his sister. Dove needed him. ''Wow...'' hissed a female voice. ''He sure is cute...isn't he?'' The girl with the ghostly, haunting eyes, held in her disgust towards the girl, as she pulled him away from her, quickly as she tied his hands together in front of him. Her tough was like an electric shock, forcing his heart to pound louder, and so much stronger than before.
''What're you doing?'' he hissed towards her, his voice cutting her cheeks, deeper than a sword's blade. ''The less you know, the better.'' she whispered, as she allowed him to be surrounded by three powerful guys. Each wearing black, raven clothing, all with the brightest, reddest, glowing eyes, he'd ever seen on any immortal.
"His sister," she said, a touch of distrait entering her tone. ''Keep control of her, it's the only way, you'll get him to listen.''
''Dove?! Where is she!'' he suddenly hissed, hot temperature of his hot concern exploding the fiery color of red over his face. ''Keep quiet!'' snapped the woman with the darkest color of hair, and the lightest colored eyes, ever seen on a demon. She kicked him in the back of the leg, sending him collapsing to his knees, in front of all of them. His body felt swollen, with his muscles growing weak, he felt lightheaded, so suddenly. ''Strong kick, huh?'' she teased, patting his head with her hand. He felt her hands trailing against his back as she reached out to touch his cheek. ''Stop toying with him.'' The ghostly girl scolded as she grabbed a hold of the black-haired woman's hand. Forcing her to get a move on, as he was pulled to his feet, and pushed door the long, narrow hall. Away from his cell, and Serpent, with no knowledge of his sister, or what was going to happen to him, if he left the prison.
Alone.
