Abel is on his way to his new job when he is stuck in New York traffic. The man sighed in frustration as he didn't want to show up late on his first day. He needs this job to go well and being late is not a good start. Abel just got a divorce and not seeing life for him in the old lines of LA, he moves back to his home city New York to be the Sergeant for Manhattan Homicide.
Things have not gone well for Abel in the past two years, and he wanted a fresh start. He needed a fresh start from the chaos of LA.
Sitting in his car Abel pulls out his phone, calling his Captain to tell him that he would be late, but lucky for Abel his Captain is also in the midst of the traffic with their stubborn ADA who didn't like being late at all.
Abel was thankful that his Captain understood and that he was also in traffic with him. He looked around to see if he could find his Captain among the cars and he spotted him up further down.
Since the cars were not moving Abel decides to get out of his car and walk over to his Captain to introduce himself. When he is in his Captain's car, Abel knocks on the window which startled the older man who rolls down his window. "Captain, sorry to bother you, but I thought I would introduce myself while here stuck together," Abel said, holding out his hand.
"Well, it's nice to meet you son and I am glad that you will be working with my squad," Captain Stevens said, shaking Abel's hand which reassures Abel's mind that this move back to New York was a good idea.
"Have you met our ADA?" Captain Stevens asked and Abel shakes his head. Abel hasn't met the ADA for his new squad yet and was for a rude awakening when two would come face to face. "Well, here she comes now," Captain Stevens said, nodding toward the young woman wearing a black pantsuit, marching toward them with her heels in her hand.
She walks past Abel, not paying much attention towards him, but Abel's eyes widened in shock as the filimarity of her face brought back old memories of his teenage years in New York.
Abel's eyes were on his first love who he hadn't seen since he was eighteen. He thought he had left all his feelings and love behind for the woman when he left for UCLA, but with just one look at her all those feelings began to rush back.
"Captain, how long will we be in the traffic. I have a case to go over," Angelina said in an annoyed tone as she was tired of waiting. "Soon, Angel, but while we have the time, have you met our new Sergeant, Abel Anderson." Angelina turns to look at the man and she stands still stunned to see him after so long.
She hadn't seen Abel since high school and now he stands in front of her. There were so many emotions going through her body at this moment. A part of her wanted to slap Abel for what he did to her back in high school and the other part of her wanted to jump into his arms and hug him for missing him too much.
