"See you soon."

It was over.

A full year full of new friendships and experiences, Ashiya couldn't have asked for anything more. Though he only quit because he wanted to say it before Abeno, the end was bittersweet. He was thankful for Abeno saying he would wait for his return. With a body full of life, he looks forward to the future in hopes to get his partial sight back.

Before his second year of high school, Ashiya spent most of his time with Fuzzy. When he broke the news, the fuzzball wouldn't leave his side for a moment. Snuggling up to the chuckling high schooler, Fuzzy would rub his fur onto his face. There were many times Ashiya would wake up not being able to breathe because of him. It was nice, who knows if Ashiya would lose all of his sight, but he wants to give his ball of fuzz all the love if it does end up happening.

During summer, the blue haired boy didn't do too much. There was no work, but he liked to drop by Okina's shrine and sit there while watching Fuzzy run around. Even when he can't see the others, it felt familiar and warm to be there. It was the closest to seeing. If he couldn't feel their presence, maybe being around would help him train like the good old days. Ashiya even stayed with Abeno here during the summer festival. Watching skewers fly around and suddenly disappear one by one, he could tell Yahiko was enjoying himself. He knows Abeno probably felt a little awkward, especially since he can't do anything about returning his sight when Sakae's influence is back in Aoi. But, being around him also feels warm and familiar. It's a little funny seeing him yell at the world, though it's just Yahiko playing. Abeno is usually good at hiding his involvement with yokai when it comes to the mundane world, but it's nice he can be at ease around him. That was until one day where Ashiya woke up without seeing Fuzzy by his side. He searched under the sheets, under the bed, and in the closet, but he couldn't find him. There was a slight breeze climbing up Ashiya's back, taping his head in a panicked beat.

Ashiya grabbed his phone and began to message Abeno, saying he wasn't able to see Fuzzy but could still feel him on his head. Reaching towards the top of his head, he gave a slight squish making sure Fuzzy was still there. He could almost sense him crying, which in turn made Ashiya tear up too. At the same time, Abeno had broken the news of needing to be gone while taking care of Aoi. With summer coming to an end and school starting back up, he said the only way to finish his education was doing a home school program which allowed him to be in the underworld 24/7 while just turning in assignments when he needed to return.

It was something he wasn't prepared for. He knew he would probably lose his sight for however long, but didn't imagine losing his friend too. They shared a secret together, so it felt a little lonely to hear him leaving town. Both Fuzzy and Abeno gone, it felt like his connection to yokai was dissipating. So badly he wanted to tell him to stay, but knows how precious the underworld needed him. So, he will just be patient and wait for him like how he's waiting for Ashiya to return to his side.

He did wish to have a normal high school life, but this doesn't feel natural either. It felt like he used the "normal" life as a distraction from not being able to see anymore. It was the only way he could stop thinking about it. Ashiya hates to admit it, but maybe he does miss someone stabbing daggers in his back every day and seeing his friends on the other side. Regardless, he spent the rest of the Summer with family and some time to reflect.

And so, that leads him to today. Embarrassingly, he entered the class shouting "GOOD MORNING ABENO-SAN '' hoping he would see his head resting on the desk as per usual, but had forgotten he won't be here anymore. He told Fushi and Saga that Abeno transferred schools because of family, but would probably return during their last year. It was loud in the classroom for once, or maybe Ashiya was just used to someone sleeping behind him.
