As I walked through the pavement, a child smiled at me,
She was playing with the roadside clay merely three.
As I watched her twirl and try moulding her clay,
Into shapes and sizes much to my dismay,
She handed me a doll lightened with glee,
A few steps down my memory lane it took me,
To the times when with these dolls I used to play,
For hours in my little pink world, I used to stay.
Not far in the future then I could see,
Nor did I care about my income or salary.
Those days when I used to stay forever gay,
And made paintings of scenery wild and grey.
When my mum's cupboard was a Narnian key,
She looked around everywhere but couldn't find me.
With my giggles and goofiness, the tension would fly away,
My parents would sit with me at bedtime to pray.
The fragrance of mud and chalk would lure me,
And kissing boys would give me cooties.
Alexa the mermaid, my imaginary friend would come by every day,
And seashells were the only currency to pay.
When a princess or a fairy were the only things I wanted to be,
And success was all about the number of candies.
I would name every dog I met on the way,
Their wagging tails would welcome my biscuits and they,
Followed me around wherever I flee,
I was the protagonist of a pied piper movie.
Grandmum's fridge would be stuffed at bay,
With all kinds of candies and juices to welcome my stay.
When mom's lap was the safest place for me,
And Dad shoulders, my royal ride when I hurt my knee.
Homework was just to have fun and play,
Colouring books all night and day.
Barney was the only show I would see,
As he jumped around all purple and green.
I would hug every tree I saw at the bay,
Its leaves glistening by the sun rays.
Cloud watching would fascinate me,
And I could be whatever I wanted to be.
As I was lost in those thoughts of my childhood days,
My daughter called from my back, miles away,
I smiled at her as she ran closer towards me,
As an angel gave me a chance to relive my childhood days, Twas she...
