The day was cool, the wind ruffled the trees in the forest and, due to the rain, the students had no training that morning. In fact, they hadn't had training for about two weeks now, but that didn't stop Kianna, June, Zabinne, Madyx or Drayden from looking for answers. Finally, the library keeper had retrieved the key and allowed them to search for information beyond what was in Secret of Darkness. Since then, they spent their mornings in the library, reading old books and documents, right after breakfast. But this morning felt strange to all the students.

"Attention, please!", said Professor Sallow, as she waited for everyone to stop breakfast and pay attention to her. "Director Benningfield, as you know, has been away for just over a month from Hokulani for urgent and more important matters. Therefore, and since it's not known when he will return, the first year students' Magic Control Practices classes will be taught by Professor Grifford! In addition to having the highest level of magic among all the teachers, he is also the teacher of Dark Studies, of the fourth-year students, so he is the most suitable to teach you. The subject of Basic Astronomy will be taught by Professor Aiken. Classes start this afternoon."

Only the first-year students started talking about the subject, speculating what the Magic Control classes with that teacher would be like. Some said they were going to be the best classes, others loved the idea of being able to have one more class with the "Best teacher ever". The third years just continued with their breakfast, as if Sallow hadn't spoken.

"Another class waisted...", said Madyx as he played with his food and his fork.

"A few days ago, when we were in the library, I discovered a document...", whispered Drayden, looking both ways to make sure only his friends could hear him. "In that document, there is a spell to control Hokulani's anti-spell barrier. If we use it, maybe we can help you reveal your powers!"

"I don't know... I feel useless here, but is it worth risking one more punishment? What if we are expelled? Everything will be in vain..."

"Drayden is right", said June. "If the director is in Runna on his business and he can't train you, why don't we?"

"And why don't we ask one of the professors?", Zabinne suggested.

Zabinne's idea was pondered by the group, which came to the conclusion that it would be the best solution for the case and, thus, they would not risk being expelled. So, at the end of breakfast, they went to the cross table, where, as usual, the teachers chatted while having breakfast.

"Hi, we have a situation", Kianna began saying. "Madyx doesn't have magic and the director was supposed to train him outside of class time. But since he's not here, is it possible for him to be trained by another teacher?"

The teachers looked at each other and the first to speak was Lawford:

"I already have many students, Miss Donovan. And the teachers already have so much work, especially now, with the exams, which are approaching."

"But, Professor, Madyx didn't ask not to have magic. And he's just one more student...", Kianna remembered, but the teacher shook her head and, suddenly, Professor Aiken interrupted them.

"Since Patrick was the only student at Perthro level, I don't have any more students. So I think I can help you with that, boy. Since it's not raining, we can even start today!"

"Thank you so much, Professor!", Madyx smiled and June took his hand, relieved that they had come up with a solution without being expelled.

The five friends then went to the library, where they tried everything to find the answers to their many questions. But the more they searched, the more doubts they had.
