ashlyn and i walked out of the school laughing when i seen ej standing by his car waiting for me.

"i'll see you at the party tomorrow?" she said beaming.

"i'll see you. tell carlos to send the dets!"

i felt ej slip his hand around my waste from behind and plant a small kiss on top of my forehead.

"what party?" he hummed

i turned around to face him, looking up at his bright eyes. "carlos is having a bonfire party tomorrow night around 7" i leaned up planting a kiss on his cheek in return from his earlier kiss. again, this is just what bestest of best friends do.

before i could pull back, he quickly pushed me forward and took a step back, trying to fix himself.

"why so quick to- oh" I said realizing gina was heading our way. i rolled my eyes at how flustered and blushy it made ej.

"hey neens! i'm staying after school with carlos to work on some choreography. can you pretty pretty please watch mabel! the spare key is-

"under the door mat. got it." i smiled at her.

"thank you so much, it means the world! she ran off and looked back atej making a weird face that i decided to brush off.

"well let's get going then" I said quickly getting into the car.

the rest of the ride was pretty much filled of stupid laughter because of ej's corny jokes. that was until i rested my head against the window and couldn't stop think about ricky. it disturbs me.

"so it's november 1st, a thursday. is ricky just gonna start coming to school in the middle of the year?" i tried to start a conversation up but ej just shrugged his shoulders.

"my parents have that all figured out."

i slowly nodded and look at the driveway we were pulling into. getting out, i slowly approached ej's doorstep.

"don't you have to watch gigi's dogs?" he asked as he fiddled with the lock and key.

"yes but i was gonna come in and get my pineapple juice i left from the other night. plus i always make pit stops at your house after school." I said making my way through his living room.

i came to an abrupt stop when i seen the tall now hot... i mean not hot curly-headed boy standing in front of me. before i could even process my thoughts, he pushed pass me running into ej's arm. it was a sentimental moment but since ricky was involved, i couldn't dare to watch. i made my way over to the fridge and sat down at the counter while i took a drink.

"i think i might be crying right now" I heard the two boys laughing and start making there way over to the counter top that I was sitting on. ricky took at seat on the bar stool in front of me and had his stupid smile plastered on his face. the one that meant he was about to insult me.

"nina" he mumbled, still keeping his smile.

"richard" i responded dryly

"haven't seen you in two years, thank god" he rolled his eyes and i fix my position so that I was now staring directly at him.

"how mature. i would think after these past years you would have grew up" I said burning my eyes deep into his own.

"let's not talk about maturity here" he giggled and i knitted my brows together.

"what is that even supposed to mean asshole?"

"quick to throw insults at me?"

"as if you weren't just making little comments"

"would you guys stop!" ej shouted, causing us both to turn our attention towards him. "listen, i know you both don't like each other and that's okay but for the sake of your best friend and your brother, could you please try to get along?"

"fine." i mumbled "but that doesn't mean we're friends" I faced ricky.

he scoffed and rolled his eyes. "i could care a less."

"couldn't!" I lightly shouted

"what?" he snapped in a defensive tone.

"it's 'i couldn't care a less'! you said 'i could care a less' implying that you somewhat care a little bit" I said rolling my eyes harshly.

"oh fuck of sal-robs"

"you don't have the right to call me that"

"oh forgive me please. i am not worthy to speak your name" he said bowing in front of me and faking a horrible british accent.

"you know what, your a little-

"nini, please" ej said placing his hand on top of mine. letting out a deep breath, i stood up and swung my bag over my shoulder.

"fine, i'm out" i said walking towards the front door.

i placed my hand on the doorknob and turned back around to face ricky, who was definitely mocking me behind my back. "and by the way, your not worthy enough" I said slamming the front door behind me so he couldn't get another word out. I marched over to gina's house and opened the door with the spare key, revealing a very excited pup.

"maybe you'll make my day better"
