El Hopper was the shy and quiet girl at school, sure she had her best friends by her side, and she had her father (who was chief of the town) but all the while she still felt a little lonely. She didn't know why but she was always searching for something that wasn't there.
El wasn't naive. She was smart. Top of her class, praised by her teachers and her principal. She had made honor roll from sixth grade to her current day 11th grade year.
And today was a day just like any other, El sat in the living room of her house, her feet kicked up on her fathers recliner, as she tweaked with his new phone setting up everything he needed, restoring his old contacts from his previous phone and downloading all of his applications.
"And done." El said handing the phone over to her dad. "Everything should be up to date, your contacts should be in place and you should be good to go." She finished flashing her dad a smile.
"The hell is face scanning recognition?" Hopper asked as he moved the phone up and around inspecting it.
"It's optional, it's to prevent people from unlocking your phone, you can either do that or set up a passcode or thumbprint recognition." El stated matter of factly.
"Thank God i have a genius for a kid, but for the safety of my privacy and not wanting the government to see my face, I will resort to having a passcode." Hopper said as he entered the settings application, setting up his passcode.
Hopper and El lived in a small cabin out in the woods, he was a very paranoid person, El however was the quite opposite, though she was shy and quiet she was far from paranoid from just about anything.
When El was only five years old she lost her mother, she had only very small and little memories of her mother, she cherished them anyway. Terry Ives was taken away from her due to a tragic lab accident that cost the lives of thirteen people, eleven years ago.
Her mother loved science and had a passion for wanting to be a scientist for as long as she could remember. Terry Ives graduated from the university of Indiana Bloomington, a year after giving birth to her first born.
If El was being real honest, her least favorite subject was Science, and it wasn't because her mom loved it and it would constantly remind her everyday that, something you put your hopes and dreams into, something that you love can take your life away. That was only half of it. She hated science because it was too complicated.
Mind you, El was a brilliant student, she was like a sponge absorbing crucial information when it came to her education. She was extremely good at science no matter how much she hated it.
El now sat in her room where she began to enter her dad's new phone number into her phone.
765-047-0011
Hey dad, saved your new number.
Wrong number.
Read 6:45 pmEl blinked, suddenly taken aback. Until she realized her dad was probably playing a joke.
Very funny dad, seriously. 🙄 you deserve an award for best comedian.
I said you have the wrong number, asshole.
El then began to realize. Maybe this isn't dad's number. She began to type back quickly to this stranger she accidentally texted.
Sorry, I must've mistaken your number for my dad's. My apologies.
Whatever.
