I stomped up the steps to the huge house that I could now call my temporary home.

I heard a dog's barking, and bells of its collar ringing. I turned to see it right before me- about to attack.

Scared to death, I pounded the door. No answer. The dog showed its incredible incisors, and raced toward me.

Then, out of nowhere, Melvin is in front of me and the dog is lying on the ground.

"How?" I looked at him, "Where did you come from?"

He put his hand on the back of his head and his cheeks began to turn bright red, "Nearby," he said.

He grabbed my hand, "Well, thank you," I looked back at the dog, who seemed to be in shock.

"Rufus is not the nicest dog, but he's afraid of me because I kicked him really hard last time he messed with me."

I smiled, "Well thanks. I'm truly thankful, that would've really hurt."

His cheeks turned the brightest shade of red I've ever seen, "No biggy. Just did what any guy would've done."

Before I could reply he ran off, and I remembered that I had a key in my purse.

"Grandma!" I yelled.

It was quiet. I was confused because she had told me that she never leaves the house.

I walked into the kitchen, and in shock, I held my mouth.

There, on the beautiful hard wood floors, lied my grandma.

I tried to shake her, I nudged her, I yelled in her ear. She never acknowledged me.

Then I grabbed my phone, and immediately dialed 911. Then Mom, Dad, Violet, and Peyton. They all responded the same way, "What?!"

I threw my phone on the light blue dining chair that was behind my grandmother, and tried not to panic as I waited for the ambulance.

Even though I have just met my grandmother, I started to cry. A member of my family was lying on the floor- perhaps dead. Tears started to rush down my face.

I heard the sirens of the ambulance out back, and started to feel scared. What if she was dead? I watched them put my grandma in the truck and drive off. It was done. It was all done.
