The next day, when the boy was all alone by himself, I took the chance to approach him to avoid drawing attention.

"Hi, my name is Felicia. What's your name?" I introduced myself.

"Uh, my name is Daniel. Aren't you the girl who asked me whether I stayed at 9 Woodfield Avenue? Why did you do so?" Daniel asked.

"Oh, I actually stay at 13 Woodfield Avenue, so I was a bit shocked to find out that you were staying so close to me," I responded.

This time round, it was Daniel's turn to be shocked. "Woah, no way, that's like only a few blocks away from where I stay! That's so cool!" Daniel's eyes widened in amazement.

"Don't you think it would be better if our parents knew about this? We could even go home together!" Daniel rambled on excitedly.

Though I was really astounded that Daniel thought of going home together, I was still overjoyed that someone had talked to me.

"Can we... be friends?" I asked nervously, my heart thumping against my rib cage.

Without hesitation, Daniel nodded his head, exclaiming, "Yes! It'll be so cool for a classmate to live near me!" Upon hearing his answer, I grinned one of my brightest smiles ever.

Daniel and I continued our little chat, and we told each other our unit numbers. Later that night, my mother asked me, "Felicia, do you have a classmate who's living a few blocks away? No wonder you asked me that question the other day! Your classmate's mother contacted me in the afternoon, saying that we lived blocks away. She also asked to meet us downstairs in front of our car on Sunday. Pretty cool honestly," my mother winked at me.

On Sunday afternoon, after we ate lunch, my parents and I rushed down to meet Daniel's family. It was my first time meeting his family. It came as a surprise when I saw that Daniel had 2 siblings.

'Must be fun living with 2 other siblings. How I wish I had a sibling...' I thought to myself.

My parents exchanged greetings with his parents and talked a little bit about us. Daniel also waved to me while I waved back shyly. Then came the shocking reveal.

"Can Daniel take your car to school from today onwards? My daughter is currently in another school, and it's a bit of a rush to send them to their schools early in the morning. Apologies for the trouble," Daniel's mother chuckled rather awkwardly.

Startled at the sudden news, I tried to suppress my shock. The idea was very new to me, as I had never gone to school with someone else before.

'I guess this would be quite fun,' I reassured myself.

Without much thought, my mother replied, "Sure, sure! It's our pleasure to help our neighbours."

With that, we bid each other goodbye and went our separate ways.
