Naruto and Tobirama

Chapter 3

Naruto tried to convince the stupid shinobi to go through the alleyways instead of straight through the heart of Konoha. Keyword: tried. The man had refused to listen. So, here they were strolling through the main street of Konoha with Naruto feeling the full force of hundreds of glares on him, while Tobirama was gazed at with curiosity and several double takes as they compared the man with the second face on the Hokage monument.

Tobirama, upon feeling the glares directed at Naruto, had simply glared back at the civilians, breaking his usually stoic expression for once, which Naruto found secretly hilarious as the shinobi's glare was much worse than any of the petty glares of the civilians. but soon enough, they reached the hospital and he decided that he did not want to be anywhere near the big white building.

Naruto squirmed and tried to wriggle himself out of the older man's grasp.

"stop struggling brat, you're going to get that arm fixed whether you like it or not" said Tobirama sternly as he gripped him tighter and marched up to the front desk.

"I'd like to have Naruto's arm looked at please"

The rather large receptionist turned her gaze onto Naruto's tiny body as he tried to hide himself in Tobirama's huge arms.

"I... see. I'm afraid we have no room for the de-, for the child. You'll have to come back la-"

"Now listen here" snarled Tobirama as he spoke softly to the lady, his expressionless face seeming to enhance his anger further. For he was incredibly intelligent and from what he understood, Naruto was not well liked in Konoha and was apparently being refused medical care too. This maddened him, but his face remained calm, neutral despite his lethal tone.

"you will find the room to treat this boy, immediately and you will do it properly and swiftly, or the Hokage will be hearing about how a child, was refused care at the hospital"

The lady spluttered a bit before stammering out a room number in fear of Tobirama. The man simply nodded and walked in the direction of the room, fury radiating off him despite his usual stoic face at the treatment of the child.

Naruto was shocked. He couldn't believe it. That stupid shinobi had gotten him into the hospital! He pulled his face out of the man's shoulder, slightly missing the feel of his fur and looked up at his face in amazement... maybe he wasn't so bad after all.

Ten minutes after they had entered their room, a tall nurse with blonde hair, green eyes, and a stark white uniform entered the room with a clipboard, scowling at Naruto before gazing at Tobirama with a hungry expression. Naruto was disgusted and turned away as Tobirama simply ignored her advances.

"Naruto has a broken arm. Fix it" was all he said before turning to the window.

The nurse looked disappointed as she turned to Naruto with a scowl. He returned the look with equal intensity as she roughly grabbed his cradled arm and began examining it in a manner that made him wince in pain.

May as well just let it fix itself with how rough she's being.

Suddenly, the nurse gripped his arm at the elbow and wrist before harshly yanking them apart to set the bone, Naruto let out a bloodcurdling scream at the sheer agony it caused as Tobirama whipped himself around, face scrunching in anger as he witnessed the harsh treatment of the boy.

"what are you doing!" He yelled, grabbing the nurse's shoulder as she slowly started healing the arm with green chakra. Naruto had tears streaming from his face as the pain only slightly receded. He was shaking terribly and suddenly never wanted to come near a hospital again. It was always this way.

"I'm healing the de-, brat obviously. what does it look like I'm doing"

"well do it more carefully" said Tobirama menacingly as he moved to hover over her and watch her every move. Naruto was grateful he did because he had no doubt the woman would have done something far worse had he left.

The nurse quickly finished healing the bone, though his arm was still incredibly painful, and left the room without another word, leaving Naruto with an arm he could barely move due to the pain and a still angry Tobirama who watched Naruto carefully, arms folded, face unreadable.

"I need to go and see the Hokage, do you know who it is?"

I knew it. He's leaving like everyone else

But almost as if Tobirama could read his mind, he quickly ended his thoughts

"And yes I will be returning. I want you to stay here and rest until I get back and then I can walk you back home."

Not like the nurses will let me stay anyways. I'll probably be thrown out the minuet he's out of sight

Naruto remained silent, thinking about why he should talk to the man. He hated talking, it bought only pain but... Tobirama hadn't hit him when he spoke before. He had even tried to start a conversation! So maybe...

"Minato Namikaze" he replied quietly

My useless father

"I see, so Sarutobi has retired then?"

He nodded once, then looked up at the man who was staring intently at him as though trying to see through to his soul.

Tobirama heaved a long sigh before unfolding his previously crossed arms and heading towards the door.

"Right. I'll be back to come pick you up later, stay here and rest until then"

Naruto nodded and Tobirama left feeling satisfied.

He's gone. I'll have to leave now. We'll probably never see each other again but it was nice to have someone care for once... NO. You aren't allowed to care. Demons don't get to care about anyone, I'm just the useless demon brat of Konoha. Yeah. The useless... demon brat.
