Back to today. I've waited, I've been patient, but now, he's here. The ideal guy, the universe has finally brought him to me as an act of providence and justice. The man who will redeem my dignity after last year. The boy who will show Chase that I was the one that got away. His name is Alex and I'm prepared to make him fall for me, whether he knows it or not. As diabolical as I may sound, I'm not crazy, I'm a teenager.

He moved here yesterday and started going to school today. I made sure that I would sit next to him in at least one class and that class is Math. It is now my favorite subject. Unfortunately, having Diana in that class just brings back bad memories and distracts me. But in a way it's a good thing, it reminds me how badly I need Alex by my side at that dance. It gives me the drive to flirt like I've never flirted before.

I guess I'm gonna have to ditch my philosophy because there's no way I'm gonna wait for him to make the first move. I'll just have to be careful about how I approach this, I can't be too shy, but I can't look like a stalker. It's a very precise process and the results are crucial to the rest of my highschool life.

The Next Day

I am one step closer to my goal, but unfortunately, I'm also one day closer to the dance and time is running out. I had a full conversation with Alex during Physics, but I could see other girls swooning over him. The competition is growing, but most of them already have dates to the dance and are considering Alex as a back up. I don't blame them for preffering him over their date, after all his shaggy brunette hair and deep brown eyes would make any girl go crazy.

During our conversation, I mentioned the local hangout, it's called Charlie's Coffee. Charlie is probably the coolest 30 year-old ever and is the main reason why people started going there. It certainly wasn't for the coffee. And Alex agreed to meet me there tomorrow! Things like this are important so I'm spending all night choosing an outfit and taking three showers...minimum.

The Day After That

I've done it! Alex has agreed to go to the dance with me! It couldn't have gone smoother, and he was actually the one doing the majority of the flirting by the end. I remember every detail.

I arrived at Charlie's Coffee at around 5, I was wearing my favorite purple tank top and some skinny jeans. Now keep in mind that it's early February and I was wearing a tank top. I felt like a popsicle, but I was determined to look the best, be the best, and dress the best for Alex.

Once I saw Alex, he was talking to a blonde haired girl who had the most flawless complexion I've ever seen. I mean there wasn't a single blackhead on her face, I even got a little insecure. But I was not going to lose Alex to her, it wasn't in my blood to give up. Luckily, when Alex saw me he waved at me to come over. The girl instantly shot me a dirty look and backed away. I felt proud.

When I got to the table Alex greeted me and gave me a cup of coffee. As I said before; people didn't go there for the coffee.

"Don't worry," he said.

"It's from my Keurig at home."

I laughed a little and took a sip. When I put the cup down, I saw the blonde in the background talking to a few friends.

"So who was that?" I asked.

I quickly regretted it. I knew I sounded like a jealous little bitch. And I didn't want him to think of me like that.

"I mean because... I've never met her before! What's her name?" I said trying to recover my major blunder.

"I think her name's Tiffany, I don't know she wouldn't stop talking." He said with a little bit of laughter in his voice.

"So," I said trying to get away from the subject.

"Where did you move here from?"

"Little Rock, it's the capitol of the most boring state ever." He replied.

I giggled a little and said, "Did you live there a long time?"

He nodded. "Yeah, my whole life, but I'm glad I moved here."

"Well, it's not too exciting here either, unfortunately."

"Well, I mean, I'm glad I moved here because I got to meet you." he said.

I probably blushed really obviously.

"Hey," I said pulling part of my hair back.

"I was wondering if you wanted to go to the dance...with me." I said as I crossed my fingers under the table for luck.

"With you?!?" he replied sarcastically. Of course I was so nervous I took him seriously.

"I'm just kidding," he said sensing my misunderstanding.

"I would be honored to go to the dance with you, Michelle."

We continued talking to each other and we talked to Charlie the rest of the day. Once the shop had closed Alex and I hugged each other goodbye, he offered to drive me home, but I said that I would just call Tina to pick me up.
