Hey guys! The title of this chapter is kind of weird, so I'll explain. I was planning to do diary entries and then switch to a third person view, so this chapter will not be told from Michelle's point of view. I just thought I would write this out so that it doesn't get too confusing. By the way, how are you guys liking the book? Please read the chapter and leave comments. The more the better! Tell me what you like and what you don't like. If you really like it, please become a fan! It would really help a lot. Alright thanks, and I hope you enjoy! Oh and shout out to:

After last year, Michelle had sworn to herself she wouldn't take anything for granted. Whether it was a new phone or a new boyfriend, she was going to protect it with her life. She was relieved that Alex was offering to walk her to class. The day before the dance they had a conversation in the hall.
"So I was thinking," Alex said suddenly.
"Maybe after the dance we could go to my place and-"
Michelle stopped and stood still.
"Um, Alex I know we're really starting to get to know each other, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet."
Alex laughed, "I was going to say ' Maybe after the dance we could go to my place and have dinner with my parents.'"
Michelle blushed and said,
"Sounds good, I'll be sure to tell Tina and Bill."
After that ,the bell rang and they went to their classes.

The Night of the Dance
It had been a year since Michelle had worn the dress. She could still see where soda had hit her dress, but it was small. She could still feel the pain on her cheek where Diana had slapped her. But most of all she could hear her heart breaking as she saw Chase comforting Diana. It was all interrupted when Tina knocked on her door frame.
"Promise me you'll stay out of trouble this time," said Tina with a sort of laughter in her voice.
"Don't worry Tina, I've already made myself that promise." Said Michelle with a serious tone.
There was a long silence.
"Well, I hope this Alex boy doesn't break your heart like that nasty Chase fellow," said Tina breaking the silence.
"Now hurry up, you don't want to be late for the big day."
Michelle nodded and put on her dress. She stared at herself in the mirror and stroked her hair. She didn't know who she was looking at; was it the confident girl from last year? Or was she now just the girl who was embarrassed beyond belief? She had looked the same, yet, completely different. Like a whole different person was standing in her mirror. Emotions were running through her head like cars during rush hour.
She grabbed her mother's shoes and suddenly everything stopped. It was like all the cars had been cleared for her and she came to an instant state of calm. She looked out her window and saw Tina waiting in the car. Michelle slipped on her shoes and ran down the steps, she gave Bill a hug on her way out and she was on her way.
Michelle strode into the cafeteria where nearly everything was pink, red, and purple. Whether it was the drinks, the food, or the lights. She was staring at all the decorations that she jumped back when Alex snuck up on her. He was wearing a red polo shirt and black bow tie.
"Wow, I'm lucky to have a date as pretty as you." Alex said.
"You're not lucky, you're just incredibly desirable." Michelle said, poking his nose playfully.
They both stared in each others eyes for a few seconds before the principal got on stage with a microphone.
"Hope you all will enjoy the dance as much as the decorating team had creating this beautiful setting for us," the principal said with a smile on his face.
Everyone clapped and one of Michelle's least favorite songs started to play. Of course the girls that had been wearing dresses similar to shirts were singing along or making out with their dates. She stared at them with hatred, but no envy like she had when she was dating Chase. Perhaps, she had grown from that.
"Wanna request a different song?" Alex asked, seeing she wasn't dancing.
Michelle nodded and Alex guided her to the request line with his elbow around her arm.

Ugh, of course she's going with the new guy. After all, he doesn't know how she was embarrassed last time. Diana thought, glaring over in Michelle's direction. Chase followed her gaze and felt guilt breathing down his neck. He turned back to Diana.
"Hey," he said.
"Don't worry about her, if she's happy with this new guy, let her be happy. It seems like all night you've been distant. Like you're so caught up in what Michelle's doing that you aren't even enjoying being here."
Diana quickly turned her head back to Chase. Her eyes staring into his soul.
"Are you defending her?" She said.
"No, I'm just saying that you haven't even been paying attention to me all night! You're more concerned about her every action then me!" He said, his voice rising.
"Don't be ridiculous!"
"I'm not being ridiculous, you're the one who embarrassed her! Why should you even hate her? She should hate you for what you did, you selfish idiot!" Chase said. He instantly regretted it. Diana was just staring at him with tears building up in her eyes and taking in big gulps of air.
Then Diana realized how stupid she was being. Or how stupid she had been for the last year. Her head suddenly got very blurry and light. She was unbalanced and nearly fell down. Chase caught her and sat her down.
"Are you okay?" Chase asked with concern in his voice.
"I'm sorry, Diana! I didn't mean what I said."
Diana could only see Chase's shape and the colors he was wearing. She could also see Michelle. She realized that she had wasted her friendship, embarrassed her friend, and left her heart-broken. Chase was right, she had been selfish. That was when it all became clear again. She saw Chase's concerned face.
"I'm alright now," she said.
Well, physically.
