Darkness. Everlasting Darkness. Some people love it. I'd advise them to rethink their decision, because I've been sitting in darkness for 6 years. Not metaphorical darkness, real darkness. I haven't seen the sun in 6 years; I used to imagine the sunlight and how good it would feel. The bright rays warming my body as I sunbathed – utter peace. Unrealistic I know, but a girl can hope. Peace isn't an option. The truth is that a man called Lucian kidnapped me when I was 5 years old and trapped me in this dungeon. Lucian treats me horribly, like I'm dirt on his polished shoe. I haven't eaten in 3 days, yet I refuse to be hungry. I would never give the depraved man the satisfaction. Lucian has a wife; her name's Diana. I've only seen her once when I first got here, but I remember her distinctive fiery red hair and beautiful green eyes. These features made her stand out from the crowd.
"Darcy!" Lucian shouted as he stormed into my dungeon.
His perfect brown hair annoyed me as he crouched down, looking me straight in the eyes. Lucian was in a sleek black suit that cloaked his commanding power over me and had black, leather gloves that covered his hands. His familiar dark blue eyes shone with cruelness. A cruelness that only I seemed to see. The thing is, Lucian and Diana lead this place. They are adored by everyone; no one knows of what Lucian's done to me.
"Yes?" I said in a sing-song voice that I know annoys him.
"My wife wants to see you," he muttered, seemingly angry about the fact.
"Diana? I'd love to see her. Maybe kill her as well," I taunted.
To be honest, I'd never kill Diana. I would never kill an innocent person. Diana's only fault is that she married Lucian. He raised his hand, and I closed my eyes at the impact of his slap. I didn't flinch, nothing hurts anymore.
"Unless you want another purple eye, I'd shut up," he threatened.
His words made my mouth clamp shut immediately, and I shuddered at the memory. I should probably explain. The day before he kidnapped me, Lucian made a mistake by hitting my body with a beam of purple magic. Yes, magic. Lucian unfortunately is gifted with a power that mere humans can't imagine. That I can't imagine. His purple blast changed one of my deep hazel eyes to purple. That day I was made a freak. Along with the purple eye, his blast made my body react in horrible ways. I was in an unimaginable amount of pain for hours – this almost killed me. The blast is the only pain I feel; anything else doesn't affect me anymore. Even though I was terrified, I needed Lucian to know that I'm not scared of him. So, with a bravery I didn't know I possessed, I spat in his face with all my might. Making a sound of shock, he wiped his face with his glove.
"Do that again. I dare you," Lucian growled, his fists clenched in rage.
I smirked in delight and spat in his face again. Today, I wasn't thinking straight. I was just so sick of being the good little girl. Rage consumed Lucian's features as he removed his gloves. Backing away in terror, I realized I'd gone too far. He opened his palm to reveal the purple flames that haunt my nightmares. I am blasted across the room and screamed in agony as the magic consumed me. Once Lucian decided I had enough, he slipped the gloves back on. I collapsed on the ground exhausted, trying to catch my breath. It had been too long since I'd felt that blast. I've been respectful for the last year, so he hasn't needed to blast me. I shouldn't have annoyed him today.
"Say you're sorry," he snapped.
I didn't want to, but I knew my body couldn't handle another blast right now.
"Sorry," I whimpered.
"Good girl. Now tell me the history of The Castle," he ordered.
"Thousands of magical people started showing up everywhere and freaking people out. So, the government built this place – The Castle – and shipped everyone here. To lead, Diana's mother was elected, and everything was peaceful. Then something happened, and Diana became the leader with you by her side. The Castle is a castle and I'm at the bottom – level 1 – where I belong. There are 30 levels but only 1 to 29 are available. Level 30 is forbidden except for Diana – not even you are allowed in there," I recited.
