Adrian has been miserable since Marinette left, he had to get a job at a convenience store because Marinette was their main source of income. Plagg had also left him.

3rd pov
Plagg had been sleeping at the time Adrian and Lila had their supposed "love" affair, it had come as such a shock to him when he was woken up by Marinette's crying.
"Huh?...." Plagg rubbed the sleep from his eyes and floated over to the living room to find Adrain. He froze in his tracks when he saw Lila and quickly hid while his mind raced a mile a minute. 'Why was Lie-la here?!' Plagg hid behind the corner and watched as Adrian ran after Marinette. He didn't know what else to do.
Plagg must have stayed there a good 10 minutes before peeking around the corner again to spy on Lila. Just to see her grabbing her stuff and some extra things around the house before walking out the door.
Looking at the beginning table he thanks Tiki that Adrian had seemed to have taken his ring off. Thinking quickly, Plagg snatches up the ring and heads toward the direction where he feels the Guardian's magic the most. New York.
