The next morning they reluctant crawled out of bed and got ready for the day.

"I could so easily stay in bed with you all day." Ricky yawned.

"I don't think your family want to see that!" Jayne laughed. "They're coming all the way from Leeds to see you do a much more family friendly performance!"

They would meet his parents and older brother at King's Cross train station in the late morning then drive almost the same route as they had gone yesterday with Jayne's family and spend the day together at the park while Ricky had rehearsals with the band.

When he saw his family arrive in the station he instantly started grinning in a way he only ever did with them. He was full of love for them but a different kind of love than with Jayne or the guys in the band.

"Guys, before we head off we need to tell you something." Ricky announced.

"You're going to have a baby!" his mum squeaked with excitement.

"No mum! We talked about this..." he grumbled.

"Sorry love." she said.

"Anyway, we got engaged yesterday!" he announced.

"Aww! Congratulations!" they all chimed.

"So let's see the ring!" his mum asked.

"He hasn't brought it yet. I asked him!" Jayne grinned. "Show your mum." she told Ricky and gave him a nudge.

"I'm the one with an engagement ring at the moment." he explained holding out his left hand.

"Get a load of you two." Ricky's brother Jamie said to Jayne on the way to the car. "Did you get sick of waiting for him to ask?"

"Exactly that!" she laughed. "I thought if he's not going to ask I will."

"He's a bit of a strange one our Ricky but he loves you. He's never been one for chasing the girls but then you come along and he can't stop talking about you!" he laughed. "I'm glad you took charge and asked him."

"It's a completely different route to how we started. I couldn't get rid of him in the early days, now he can't get rid of me!" she laughed.

While Ricky rehearsed for the show with the band they looked around the park and the shopping centre nearby.

"Sorry about earlier. I got caught up in the excitement and forgot about the..." Ricky's mum said to Jayne as they sat in the sun that afternoon.

"It's ok. I wasn't sure if Rick had told you about it. We don't really talk about it that much." Jayne smiled weakly and gave Mrs Wilson's hand a little squeeze.

"Can I ask, have you two considering something like adoption?" Mrs Wilson asked.

"We've talked about it a bit and we'd like to but there might be a few things we need to sort out first." Jayne replied.

Fortunately Jayne's phone began ring thus ending the increasingly awkward conversation with her future mother in law.

"Speak of the devil." she said before answering it.

"Hey gorgeous!" Ricky greeted her.

"Hey handsome! Are you finished?" she asked.

"Nearly. Give me about quarter of an hour and I'll be free. Are you guys all still hanging out?" he asked.

"I'm with your mum but your dad and Jamie have just wandered off for a bit. I'm sure they'll be back soon." she told him. "Text me when you're finished and we'll all meet you somewhere."

"Ok but I can't be gone for too long." he replied.

They met up a while later and all sat down to eat before they all had to head to their seats in the stadium and for Ricky to perform. While he was telling his family about the rehearsal he put his hand on Jayne's knee. She was ok with this kind of affection in public and around family but any higher and he usually got a sharp elbowing in the ribs.

As the conversation went on his hand slowly crept higher. She elbowed him a few times and gave him dirty looks but they were all ignored.

"What do you think you're doing?" she hissed and pushed his hand off her leg.

"Just having fun." he shrugged.

"You've been drinking haven't you?" she asked suspiciously. "You know I hate it when you drink and drive."

"I'll be fine by the end of the show." he shrugged.

"Hmmm..." she grumbled dubiously.

They didn't talk about it again that evening. Once they'd eat they made their way over to the stadium where they parted with Ricky.

"Tell the others I say hi." Jayne told Ricky as she kissed him goodbye.

"I won't tell them like that!" he laughed.

"No, that kiss was for you silly!" she giggled and tapped him playfully on the nose. "Good luck, I know you'll rock."

"Thanks." he smiled sheepishly. "I need it."

She always knew they'd be great at whatever show they did. Maybe it was blind love or confidence in her man but she'd never seen them give a bad performance.

After the show they mingled a little with the band and few friends. Jayne was standing with Simon in a group of chatty people when he turned to her.

"Rick told us the news. Congratulations!" he smiled.

"Thanks." she squeaked as he squished her into a hug that lifted her off her feet.

"He's a lucky guy. Not many of us have someone as good as you." he said.

"No, I'm the lucky one and I didn't want to let him get away." she dismissed.

"Really, he's a lucky guy. You're beautiful, funny, clever and so strong." he said, blushing a little.

She frowned a little at her fiancé's best friend saying she was beautiful. "What are you talking about, Simon?"

"I really like you. I think I might..." he stopped and took a deep breath. "Don't marry him."

Her head was reeling with this shock announcement. She opened her mouth to say something, she wasn't even sure what to say, when Ricky pushed past Simon.

"Jayne! Come and meet the Spice Girls!" he announced and grabbed her hand.

She caught a glimpse of Simon looking very much embarrassed before she was lead off into the crowd. Thankfully as if to spare them both further embarrassment she didn't see him long enough to talk to again that night. Occasionally she'd see his curly hair above the crowd and made brief eye contact that made him blush.
