Zoey slowly stood up and lazily walked towards the sofa, making herself fall and land on top of it. Her head hurts trying to take in all that had happened today, she feels like she's inside a novel or a movie, but she isn't.
As she continued to grumble to herself, a gurgling sound suddenly interrupted the quiet room. Zoey's face grew hot as she placed her hands on her stomach, even if she was all alone inside the apartment, it was still embarrassing for her when her stomach loudly growled, asking for food.
She slowly stood up, walking towards the kitchen to get some food when a plastic bag near the door caught her eyes. 'Food!', she forgot about the food that the attractive man gave her. She quickly raced towards the door, snatching the plastic bag, and plopping herself back on the sofa.
She took out a small black lunchbox from the plastic bag and opened it to reveal two hash browns and two slices of spam with an omelet on top. Zoey's mouth started to water at the food in front of her; it's been a long time since she had a proper breakfast, all she ever ate was toast; and if she wasn't running late for work, she'd feel lucky to even eat a bowl of cereal.
Zoey grabbed a fork from the kitchen and sat down at the small circular table next to the window. She opened the window; letting the fresh air in as she cheerfully ate the food prepared just for her.
After she ate, Zoey let out a small burp; sighing in contentment. But then, her eyes widened in realization. "Wake up Zoey! this isn't the time to rest!" Zoey said out loud, both of her hands slapping her cheeks over and over again.
She started pacing back and forth, with only one thing in her mind, 'Why me?!?'. She knows that she couldn't get out of this situation, she already signed the freaking papers for god's sake!
"I need to stop drinking," Zoey mumbled under her breath.
Suddenly her ringtone was heard, and she quickly scrambled towards the table where she left her phone. She took her phone and saw who was calling her; 'Hubby calling...'
'What the hell??' She thought. She didn't remember a caller ID named 'Hubby' before. Zoey couldn't but let her mind wander to a certain someone and couldn't help but let out a laugh.
"That man really is something. Guess I should also put a password on my phone." Zoey said to herself, smiling fondly at her phone as she accepted the call.
"Hello?" Zoey said a little bit louder than she intended to do.
"Hello?" A woman's voice could be heard from a phone inside the silent meeting room. The other people inside the room had wide eyes, and some even had gaping mouths. They couldn't believe it; the man in front of them, who could be compared to a devil, was smiling warmly when he heard the female's voice.
"Have you eaten your breakfast yet?" Ezekiel said, not even caring that he stopped a meeting halfway just to call Zoey; but she doesn't need to know about that.
"Oh yes! Thank you for the food, by the way, I haven't eaten something that delicious ever since I started work." Zoey cheerfully from the other side of the phone.
"Then I'll keep making you breakfast; even lunch or dinner if you'd like," Ezekiel said, smiling fondly at the thought of the female's smiling face while eating the food he made.
The forgotten people in the room were once again in shock from the information that they had heard. 'The president cooked for someone?!'
"Could it be the president's wife?"
"It couldn't be! I don't see a ring!"
"Maybe it was a forced marriage?"
"Are you deaf?! Didn't you hear their conversation?!"
One by one, the people in the meeting room started gossiping and making assumptions about who might be the mystery woman that their president was talking to.
"You don't have to! Making breakfast is just enough." Zoey said, praying that the man would drop the subject.
"Alright, but could I maybe make you some snacks?" Ezekiel said; knowing that Zoey won't be able to turn down the offer because of how persistent he sounds.
"Fine, breakfast and snacks. But that's it! No more okay?" The female said in a scolding manner.
"We have a deal then," Ezekiel said chuckling silently at the female's scolding words. He started asking how she was and what was she doing; like an overprotective boyfriend.
Everyone in the room, who was still being ignored, was silently watching their president worrying about the mystery female; to put it simply, they were being fed with so much PDA that they were sure that they wouldn't be hungry for a while.
Michael, who was sitting right next to Ezekiel, got a bit irritated with all the lovey-dovey things that Ezekiel was doing. He silently coughed, making Ezekiel look at him with a questioning expression. Michael tapped at his wristwatch; signifying that the meeting was going to end.
"Wait a minute, were you busy? Did I intrude into something important?" Zoey said with guilt in her voice.
"You didn't. It wasn't anything important." Ezekiel said in a reassuring tone.
'Not important?' The people felt like their soul was going to come out of their body. They were literarily discussing a new business deal offer! But who even had the guts to confront him?
"Whether it was important or not, it's still work. Now get back to work before you get scolded!" Zoey said, not aware of the dumbfounded expression the people have on.
'Miss, who would even dare to scold the president?'. Every single person in the room thought at the same time.
"Alright, I'll get back to work," Ezekiel said fondly.
"I'm going to hang up now. Bye~."
"Goodbye," Ezekiel said before the female could hang up. He put his phone back in his pocket, smiling in contempt.
His face turned back into a stoic and cold expression, it's like the man who was smiling fondly before was never there. The temperature in the room suddenly dropped, shivers running down every person's spine.
"Let's end the meeting here, we will continue this tomorrow," Ezekiel said. Everyone quickly gathered their things and bolted out of the room.
Ezekiel slowly stood up, taking long and elegant strides towards the window. He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket; he took it out and opened it to see a message from Zoey. 'If you want, I'll cook you lunch today!'
Ezekiel smiled warmly at the text message, sending a 'yes' as a reply. He shuts his phone and puts it back in his pocket, he looks out the window with warmth spreading in his chest.
"Michael, cancel today's lunch. I have a date today." Ezekiel said, fixing and tidying up his suit; as he walked outside of the room.
"But sir, it was a lunch with the madam..." Michael said. Once again left all alone to finish all of Ezekiel's unfinished work.
