Chapter 23

Coco's POV
It has been over a month now since I found out Maleek was cheating on me with Darni. I had completely ignored all his texts and calls and I was doing the same thing with Darni.
At this point I was sick and tired of everyone. Couldn't even stand the sight of Darni or the Lodge family.
I had managed to land a job at one of the largest real-estate companies in LA and I thought it would be great if I distracted my mind from everything that has happened. And also the pay was great and I could finally get my own place.
"Ms. Coco, you have a visitor", Maria said.
Maria was my assistant at the firm. Since I landed my job, I had tremendous sales and got promoted.
"Okay, tell them to meet me at the visitor's lounge", I said as I continued with my work.
As I got up from my chair, my head was trying to figure out who the visitor might be as I never told anyone where I worked. Not even Makayla and we were cool.
"Hello, my name is Coco nice to meet you", I said as I extended my hand to greet her.
"Miriam Lodge, nice to meet you too,she said with a smile on her face.
Wow okay this is about to get interesting. Play it cool Coco maybe they are not related.
" What can I do for you Mrs. Lodge", I asked trying to play it as cool as possible.
"Well I want to buy a building and I was told you my dear was the right person to contact", she said.
"Good thing you came to right person, shall we go to my office?", I said as I led her to my office.
"I have a couple of options for you to look at. I have a four-storey building that just opened up. It's suitable for running a club or a restaurant. It has spacious rooms which can hold a maximum of 200 people each floor.
Six bathroom stalls with equipped showers",I said as I continued showing her the slides.
"It sounds perfect, I'll take it, she said with a huge smile on her face.
" Sounds great, I will send you the paper work tomorrow and then show you the grounds ", I said.
" Let's sign the paper work over dinner ", she said.
" Okay, I'll have Maria take your details and send the paper work to you during your dinner", I said.
"I'm inviting you to come to dinner with me and we will settle all the paper work and everything else", she said.
Her smile was so inviting and I also needed to make this sale.
"Alright, I'll have dinner with you", I said.
It sounded so weird saying it out loud.
"Okay, I'll give Maria all the details. See you tonight", she said as she gathered her things.
The rest of the day went on swiftly and I got everything prepared.
I left the office and headed to the restaurant we were meeting at.
The restaurant was fancy and glamorous.
"Welcome Ms. Coco", said a guy in uniform and I assumed he was a waiter there.
"Mrs. Lodge is waiting for you", he said as he led me to the table where she was waiting for me.
"Coco, you made it", she said as she got up from her seat to greet me.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting, but you know LA traffic", I said as I lightly laughed.
"It's okay, I totally understand. I'm also waiting for my son to arrive",she said.
Son? I just hope she has another son that I don't know of. Stay calm Coco.
"Sorry to keep you beautiful ladies waiting", said a voice from behind me.
My heart was racing so hard. I just hoped it wasn't either one of them.
"There you are son, she said as she got up to greet her son.
The whole time I had my head buried down on the menu.
" And this is Coco, the realtor I told you about ", she said.
I lifted my head up and my eyes met with his. I hadn't seen him in a long time.
I was so lost in his eyes, and I started reminiscing on every moment I had with him.
"Coco, are you okay?", I had a sound say snapping me back to reality.
"Yes, I'm sorry", I said trying to fix my myself.
"This is my son Maleek Lodge and he actually is the one who's looking for a building", she said.
"Nice to meet you sir", I said quickly dismissing him.
"Shall we get to the paper work?", I said getting the paper work.
"What's the rush, shall we get dinner first?", he said with a smile on his face.
"Yes dear, don't be in a hurry. You should try the food here it's really great", she said.
We had dinner. There was little chit-chat here and there but the whole time I could feel Maleek staring at me.
I just wanted to get everything done and get out of there.
"Uhh, I think now that we have our stomachs full we should get to what brought us here today", I said.
"Classic Coco", he muttered under his breath.
"As I told Mrs. Lodge the building...
" I already know all of that", he said cutting me short.
"Rude!", I muttered.
"I couldn't help but ask, have you two met before?", Mrs. Lodge asked. Her face was indeed filled with curiosity.
"No!", I said
" Yes! ", he said
"I think I should let you two get this deal finalized now", she chuckled as she got up and left.
We were left there seating alone. I must admit you could feel the tension between the two of us.
"For legal reasons I am supposed to show you how the building looks like before you sign any papers", I said. I wanted to keep things as professional as possible.
"You lead and I follow Princess", he said with a smirk on his face.
"Let's be professional Mr. Maleek", I said.
I couldn't help but think about how many times Darni had access to his body. It made me more angrier because I had to go home and see her face.
"Shall we go", I said as I got up and we headed towards the exit.
"We'll take my car", was all he said before we got out.
The car ride was filled with silence, you could even hear my heart beat.
"Coco I....
" I don't want to hear it", I said as I interrupted him.
It was true though, I didn't want to hear about how sorry he was for sleeping with my best friend.
We finally got to the site. I showed him the building and explained in detail every part of that building.
Real estate was my passion and it was the thing that made me happy. Despite the huge checks and bonuses I got, it was my passion and I ensured that all my clients were fully satisfied with the buildings before selling it to them.
I finally got done with the tour and after double checking everything, he finally signed the paperwork and made the necessary payments.
"Congratulations Mr. Maleek, here's the key to your new owned building", I said as I handed him the keys to the building.
I got all my stuff and prepared to leave.
"Look Coco I'm sorry", he said as he got hold of my arm.
"Hear me out before you say anything, I know I hurt you and I'm sorry I don't even know how I can apologize for ever hurting you like that", he said.
"Look Maleek, you did what you did because that is who you are. You can try justifying your actions but you can't change who you are. I wish you and Darni all the luck in the world", I said as I freed my hand from him.
I tried walking past him but he just wouldn't bulge.
"Can you please get out of my way, it's getting late and I have somewhere to be", I said.
"Please Coco, don't go", he said with tears in his eyes.
Nope gurl you are not going to fall for his lame ass tricks. Stay focused, he hurt you and he doesn't deserve you.
"Maleek leave me alone!", I yelled. The pain in my voice was very loud.
I screamt so loud releasing all that pain and hurt that I was holding in for so long.
As much as I tried pretending that I was okay with the way he had decided to treat me, I had my breaking point too.
" Neither you nor Darni deserve me. You all can go to hell for all I care", I said as I pushed my way past him and headed out.
He called after me but I didn't want to look at him or hear him. Every inch of him disgusted me. All I could see was Darni all over him and that fueled my anger even more.
I got a cab and headed home.
Luckily Darni wasn't there. I couldn't stay there anymore because I might end up killing her. I got into my room and packed all my bags. I was going to stay at a hotel for the night before I moved into my own place.
Then I heard the front door open.
"Coco", Maleek called out.
"Of course you have a key", I said as I took my bags to the living room.
"I let him in", Darni said as she came from behind him.
"Of course you did, you disgust me", I said.
"Can you please hear me out?", Darni said.
"No! I'll be back to get the rest of my things tomorrow", I said as I walked past them.
