I honestly don't get why we all have to be so fake in public. Like, we literally have these personae that we only wear in front of others. Well, I mean strike that; I do think I understand---

I have this theory that we all are too afraid to learn more about ourselves. Like, we look into our minds and our unkown aspects and we're unsure and uncertain of how we feel about them. So, we assign generalized stereotypes and idea to ourselves. We're not ourselves in front of others; We're playing a part. These generalizations are easy to pick out of a person and they require us to do less guess work, I think, when trying to assume things about a person so we can be more confident as we interact with (or talk about) them. The Cheerleader, Stoner, Skater, Jock, Nerd, Beauty Queen, Bitch, Teacher's Pet, Class President, Wannabe Hippy, "Tumblr Girl", Feminist, etc.

We're all like, just playing parts and it's sad because these roles we fill as people only take away from the rest of who we are. And because of the Mask, we ignore our feelings. We ignore our insides and our personalities so we can fill these little roles in everyone else's lives. We hold ourselves to a higher standard, or most of us do. And for some people- this becomes a double standard. They decide, since they don't want to feel who they really are, they expect others to do the same. I think that's why some teens can be so rude and inconsiderate of others.

And since it's so common to wear the Mask, many become suspicious and paranoid that others aren't who they appear to be, when they may really be acting genuine. It's why nice girls are labeled "Fake" and nice guys are "Just trying to get with you". We're all so sad and paranoid, and it's all due to the teen insecurities that come along with growing up. I guess adolescence truly is about finding yourself and learning to handle the cards you've been dealt. It's just so unfortunate people can get so upset, and in some cases die (which they most definitely do not deserve like at all), due to the developmental windows we're all forced by hormones to jump through like little dogs or something.

If you're reading this, please just know it's so much more fulfilling to be genuine, honestly. Yeah, some people might think you're fake, but you'll get the satisfaction of knowing you're not. Literally, just keep it real. Pay attention to your actual feelings and not the feelings you think you're supposed to feel and exhibit.
