"I love you" Jazzy said at the end of her sentence. Her sentence doesn't matter right now. What matters is her nervousness and uncertainty in the way she said I love you. He hadn't told her he loves her back in weeks, Jasmine couldn't remember the last time he said it.
Anthony had been acting strange lately and it's been scaring Jasmine. He hasn't bothered to try send the short time they have together with her. When he's working long hours, they barely see each other and it hasn't seemed to have affected Anthony like it did Jazzy.
He just didn't seem to care anymore. He pushes people away, it's what he does and she doesn't know this. He doesn't either. This whole time he's pushing her away, not treating her how he should without realizing.
She had convinced herself that it's her fault. That it's just her being extra clingy and not him just not caring anymore but that didn't stop her from crying after he left without telling her he loves her, without a kiss and without caring that they hadn't spent time together in weeks.
He'd work late, he'd come home to jazzy already sleeping, he'd wake up early for work to Jazzy clinging to him, he'd carelessly remove himself from her grasp unbothered if she woke up. Then he'd leave, her saying bye at the door, sometimes give him a quick kiss on the cheek that he'd back away from. She noticed that and started doing it less, he didn't seem to care. He also didn't seem to care that the last time their lips had been connected was weeks ago.
"I love you, I'll see you later" was what she finished her sentence with, her voice made it obvious she wanted to cry as she hoped for a response.
"Yeah, bye" With that he turned and walked away, leaving Jazzy wondering if this relationship was worth fighting for anymore if he doesn't care anymore. This thought broke her, she loves him more than anything and he's making her feel like he doesn't love her anymore.
She sat on the couch and let a few tears slip before she buried her face in a pillow and sobbed.
There she fell asleep, it being still early in the morning and her being restless the night before while Anthony still hadn't returned home.
She woke up about an hour later, her face slightly puffy and red from crying. She decided to shower, a hot shower made her feel just a little better.
After her shower she put on one of his shirts, inhaling his scent she missed when they hugged which they haven't done in who knows how long.
She ate before crawling into bed, his side that was always empty when she tried to sleep and empty when she woke up those days he tried his best to not wake her so he could avoid seeing her and succeeded.
She sat in bed all day watching Netflix, hoping Anthony would be off early and would come home to cuddle.
It was getting late, Nala curled up beside her, Jasmine picked her up. It was just then that Anthony had slipped in the door and Jasmine hadn't heard him.
"You still love me, right?" She held the dog up to be level with her face. Anthony had approached the door, unsure if he should go in when he heard her talking.
"I don't know if I could bare losing Anthony and the two of you" she sat Nala down next to prince. Hearing this made Anthony's heart drop. Does she really feel this way?
He couldn't get himself to move to open the door now, stuck thinking about how he's been treating Jasmine and how he doesn't deserve her.
"I love you guys, Ant too but I don't know if he'll be around much longer" she started crying, "I don't think he loves me any more" she continued, not talking to the dogs anymore, just saying out loud what's been going through her mind for awhile.
"Maybe he's gotten bored or maybe he never loved me" the cries she's been trying to repress turned to quiet sobs.
"It hurts. Loving him so much and not knowing if he even cares anymore" she just started saying what she's been too scared to admit to herself.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do" she buried her head in her pillow, sobbing.
Just then Anthony slowly opened the door, "Jas" he said softly.
She lifted her head from the pillow and quickly wiped her tears before turning to face him, "hey Ant" she gave him a weak smile, trying to hide the fact that she's been crying.
"Jas im so sorry" he sat next to her, "I love you so so so much" he grabbed her hand, her eyes filling with tears again.
"Are you sure?" She croaked out
"A thousand percent, Jazzy. I love you more than anything" his arms wrapped around her.
She was hesitant at first before melting into his warm embrace where she started sobbing again.
"God, Jas, I'm so sorry. I had no clue I was-"
"Why?" She interrupted him
"Why what?"
"Why did you do this, Ant? I thought you hated me" she pulled herself out of his arms
He used his left hand to wipe her tears while his other hadn't let go of her hand.
"I um- I have problems that I- uh usually ignore. I get exhausted, my mind completely shuts off a-and I go into survival mode I guess, that's what I call it anyway." His eyes filled with tears. "I usually push everyone away and refuse to get help"
"Why haven't you ever told me" her hand squeezed his
"I-I didn't want to scare you away" he blinked away his tears, "everyone I love gets scared and leaves and I didn't want to lose you so I pushed you away, without realizing it as some sort of survival instinct"
"But I'm always here, Ant you know that" her thumb stroked the top of his hand
"I know that now. Jeez I'm so sorry, Jas" his hand moved to cover his face as he took a deep breath, ashamed of what he's done
"Don't be sorry, we're going to get you help" she kissed his forehead.
They sat in silence for awhile, foreheads pressed together. Appreciating each other's presence.
"Thank you" he let out, barely a whisper
"There'll be no thanking me because I love you and this is something you need" a smile began to grow across his face as she spoke
"I think you deserve this" he pulled her closer to connect their lips.
"You don't know him much I missed that" she smiled at him
"I didn't know how much I missed that" he smiled back
"Thank y-"
"What did I say? No thanking me. I'm thanking you, for feeling safe enough to tell me what's wrong so we can get you help" she interrupted him
"But I acted like a complete ass, for weeks" he sighed, mentally cursing himself
"I'm over it" she tried to convince him. She still hurt a little but she's getting over it. She knows he loves her, she's getting him help.
They fell asleep that night wrapped in each other's arms, not completely happy but it was something they were working on, together.
I was sad again while writing but this one isn't as sad as the other one
