Eliza looked out her window tiredly, processing everything that had happened in the past week.
It was a great surprise, really, but whenever she had any excited emotion, she would burn up everything around her. It got worse when she was mad.
Luckily, her older sister, Angelica Schuyler, had gotten the water gem, and she knew how to control it.
Eliza closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep, but it wouldn't work. Instead, she kept on seeing the light over and over again....
Flashback:
Eliza closed her eyes and blew out her birthday cake, making a wish. She opened her eyes again, but was almost blinded by a light that had spread across the room. And then she remembered what had happened when Angelica had got her water gem. Nononono- she didn't want to have such a big responsibility. She felt the light disappear and she was in the comfort in her dining room again. Except... something felt different.
Angelica squealed. "Oh my gosh, Eliza! You have the fire gem!"
She ran to a mirror hoping that it was a prank, but she was confronted by a shiny red gem in the middle of her forehead. Hoping it was a dream, she pinched herself in the arm. Ouch! She really shouldn't have done that.
[Flashback End]
After what felt like an eternity, Eliza fell asleep, trying to find peace in her dreams. But even then her powers haunted her. She was in a room filled with fire and she had nowhere to go.
"Eliza! Eliza!"
Was the fire calling her?
"Eliza, wake up!"
Huh?
Suddenly the girl sat up in her bed, waking up in cold sweat. She saw Angelica standing over her with a worried look on her face.
"You were crying in your sleep."
Eliza blushed. Well that was embarrassing.
"Sorry," she mumbled.
Then, she suddenly noticed burn marks all over the floor that hadn't been there before.
Angelica noticed her glancing at them.
"Oh, aaaaand you started a fire too."
It was probably time for her to start accepting the fact that she was the fire keeper.
