Chapter 39

Gupta House

Mrs. Manorama Khuranna was a woman with high wishes and requirements. She was well known as a very ambitious person. She had big plans for Payal Khuranna and her future. A woman from the same status like the Khuranna's have only one aim and this is to do the right thing for the whole family. One strict family like the Khurannas always wanted to get higher and higher in the hierarchy. Everyone should look with fear and respect at them.

Manorama Khuranna actually lives far away from Lucknow but Payal's grandfather and his estates were here and after he died, he left everything to Payal. Payal was too young to take care of everything. She was too naive to handle the workers and estates. Not even Manorama was fit to do the work but till Payal finds a fitting, rich husband, Manorama was ready to do the hard work only a man should do. Payal needed a strong man by her side and the only person that was close to worthy of Khuranna family, was Mr. Malik.

This handsome, educated and especially rich man was more than good for her Payal. Sure he is a little too strict and serious for Payal but Manorama was sure at the end she will suit him very well. In fact Manorama had already started to teach her how to be good wife of this extremely attractive but obviously complicated Indian man. She couldn't resist to imagine how her whole family looked with proud at her when she marries Payal successful of to this rich guy. She was absolutely sure, everyone will praise her in all ways.

She has only two problems and this was Payal and Khushi. Payal made her crazy with her admiration for Mr. Singh. After Mr. Singh stopped Manorama from slapping Khushi she started to feel hate for this useless employee of Mr. Malik. It makes her angry that Payal saw how handsome Mr. Singh was but didn't show a slight interest in Mr. Malik.

Payal was not smart enough to see that Mr. Malik have much more to give than Mr. Singh who was just an poor employee. When Manorama told her to concentrate on Mr. Malik, Payal opened about her fear from Mr. Malik. Payal started with her childish thoughts that a very dark aura surrounded Mr. Malik and he was scaring her.

The things didn't get better in Khuranna's house, no matter how much Manorama spoke to Payal about Mr. Malik's qualities. In return Payal filled Manorama's ears with Mr. Singh and even all other workers in their house were able to listen to Payal's praise for Mr. Sing. Especially Buaji have her damn ears always open for Payal's dreams. Manorama was sure that after she removes Khushi from their lives, next one to leave will be Buaji.

And now Manorama was trying to come up with a good plan to make all her wishes work. Manorama was not stupid and very realistic. She knew how this world works and she knew that men like Mr. Malik have their needs. It was not unusual that powerful men like him have their mistresses and don't even end such relationships after their marriage. All in all for Manorama it was clear that she needed to do something.

Manorama closed her eyes and thought how some good families came to Khuranna's house to see Payal, to see if she was good as their bahu but as soon as they and their sons saw Khushi who served them food and drinks they showed some interest in her too. Payal didn't care that other families were more interested in Khushi than in her. She was young and innocent and foolish. The only thought she has was to lose her friend Khushi which she never wanted to happen. It was a huge mistake that Manorama allowed Payal to spend so much time with Khushi but it is what it is.

So Manorama promised herself that this will not happen again. She created a plan to remove Khushi from their house and what started as a good plan to remove her from Khuranna's house to get out of sight from future visitors, came out as the biggest mistake Manorama could make. How in the whole world would Manorama know that the place where she send Khushi would come out as the place where she never wanted to have her at all?
